San Marcos/Seguin umps strike Again!!!!

San Marcos/Seguin umps strike Again!!!!

This weekend in Del Valle.................if you polled the coaches their.......they'd agree......it was poorly, poorly officiated.

I'm starting to wonder WHO certified or trained these guys......because that person might need training themselves.

One ump called a infield fly.......ball drops......runner from first goes to second. Fielder throw the ball to second before the runner gets there (no tag) and the ump calls her out because he thought it was a force. The girl leaves the field thinking she was out. Then our coach asked them to correct it........guess what..........they recognized the infield fly, but called the runner out at second BECAUSE SHE LEFT THE FIELD!!!!! After the field ump called her out on a NON-force out. Go figure......and guess what......they even threw the coach out.....told our coach to go to the parking lot.

Oh.......when did the pitching rules change.......according to this crew..........your pitcher can get a signal from the catcher, then approach the pitching rubber with both hands together, STEP BACK, then pitch the ball.......when asked......the umpire said the rule have changed that we need to read the rule book..........Holy Cow y'all. I hope my coaches are finally fed up enough to avoid tournaments officiated by these umps.

I talked to several other parents and coaches, many of them stressed several other mistakes and poor judgment.

Where is the Austin crew????? The ones that have done the other Del Valle tournaments.

Anyone else having problems with these guys??
How did the Seguin tournament go....did they send the "A" team there??? They weren't in Del Valle.

Freeze ON!!!!!

I thought they did well. I had one confrontation - one of my coaches asked the plate blue why he was not giving anything on the corners - the blue told my coach 'Hey, this aint 12u, this is 18u, you got to throw down the middle.' When my coach told me what he said, I cornered the blue and asked him to repeat that to me and he denied he said it.

Our UIC was a guy named Larry and I thought he kept control of the games quite well - with so many fields there at Huber, they were able to shift some games around and keep us almost on schedule - which we out of towners appreciate, we still got home around 1:30 am. But back to the game calling, like usual a few calls were missed on both sides a time or two, like any tournament, and while the guys explained their calls, they didnt debate, they explained. And like usual, I didnt agree, but that doesnt matter - they did their job, I did mine.

So maybe you were right, we had the A team blues. We had hoped to get our schedule around so we could come play at Huber and it was really worth it - they still have some work to do. And though I will miss the sound and the smell of the Starke complex, I hope everyone supports these guys at Huber, its time south Texas had some nicer fields.

How to handle this situation:

Runners on first and second one out. Batter pops up to infield(infield fly) fielder drops the ball runners advance (12u) Fans coaches screaming and hollering to go to stay things they do best is cheer confuses the runner. Runner sees the umpire with the infield fly signal and is confused and thinks she is out. Abandons the base and goes into the dugout. Coach does not ask for time he runs out onto the field screaming at the umpire. (coach also uses a different umpire group who always gives him the call he wants not the correct one) He is upset and ejected. A fan is also ejected for calling the umpire CHICKEN S---- Loud enough for the whole field to hear it.

It could have been handled different by both parties. The umpire reacted to a large burly man charging at him using a loud outdoor voice and he was ejected for running onto the field without asking for time and some of the obscene things said or yelled to the umpire Why did the coach not tell the player to stay on the base and ask for time and approach the umpire with his question? Dont know it didnt happen that way everyone reacted were they ALL right NO. Can we change it no we just learn from it. We are human and so are coaches and players. When they make mistakes on the field do you see an umpire charge them get in there face and belittle them about not doing the right thing. You dont every contest played you have a winner and a loser. Half will be happy with the outcome and the other half will not. So Coach good luck in the future and I hope your team does well.

First, anyone who uses the name whyplayAwhenucanplayB basically is telling you he cannot compete and is a loser. The Freeze Blue is a rec. ball team wannabe select. One of the coaches is the head umpire for Oak Hill Rec. Ball and some of the umpires we see in the select tournaments.....we also know umpire for him in Oak Hill.....very interesting that we never hear you complaining about them. The hand that feeds you so to speak. The Freeze complains about every umpire that actually doesn't favor them, they complain about every thing. Sure the umpire may have made a mistake but it happens and instead of handling it like an adult, the Freeze coach flew into a hissy fit. Kudos for the ump for getting that negative jerk off the field. Set an example for your players instead of thinking you are the sole authority on softball and blowing up in front of not only your players but the other team players as well. And the Freeze Blue coach should know that he is a little too old to be wearing that fake diamond in his ear, he looks ridiculous, of course that may explain his immature behavior.

Love how ya both are trying to spin this awful display of umping into about the Freeze coaches behavior. One.....I'm not the first base coach your talking about.........thats all him, that's your problem.

Get the call right for the girls..........even though they threw out the coach........they still got it WRONG. Big Blue punishes the girls cause he's mad at a coach......Big Man. Get over yourself and get it right. Plus where did these guys read or hear that you can walk on to the rubber with both hands together???? That doesn't sound like a training issue??? That's not about making a judgement call.......that a official not knowing a black and white rule. And I don't know how many times I saw a lazy official making a call at first from almost in left field. Never once tries to get closer????
Look I'm not complaing about judgement calls..................every crew blows calls.........my problem is the laziness, not knowing the rules.............trust me.......Freeze wasn't the only one that had problems with these guys..........I guess we need to be asking TD's why they continue to use these guys????

In case you didnt understand me I am not trying to blame the coach and I know you are not the first base coach. That is a totally different guy and I know you are not the the head coach. I really dont care who you are. I explained what happened on the play as explained by the umpire that is all I did and told you why the coach was ejected. What do you have to say about the fan cursing in front of the girls? I dont know which umpire you are talking about with the pitching situation I have asked them all and they are aware of the proper ASA pitching procedures. By the way we have worked several Austin area and Del Valle tournaments this year. You will never find me here bashing another individual yet I see that you get a pleasure from this. You say several other teams are here doing this and yet you are the sole individual posting all thes hateful threads about the officials. I also understand there is a shortage of umpires so get off your bucket and get on the field. Put your money where you mouth is.

The only time you speak up is when someone has something you do not like about a umpire crew. This board was made so people could guve out opinions about softball. Normally that means all things about softball including umpires.

Have you seen this crew on the field. Are you apart of this crew? This crew as a hole needs to change some of the things that they are doing. There a few of them that are totally un approachable. It seems that a few act as if they have been sentenced to umpire. They do not seem to like it at all and everyone know it.

Judgements are just that a Judgement. There are things that you can do to put yourself in a better position to make better calls.

NO everyone in this crew is bad. The youngman in the crew goes all out.

Your comment about get off of the bucket is stupid. I would be willing to bet that most of the coachs and parents have umpired at some time and level. Believe it or not, you do not have to be a umpire to know that rules. We get the same book that you get. We just read it.

We are at the fields because are kids are playing. We pay the umpires a good wage to do a good job. Its seems like the umpires think we are working for them and we should be greatfull and just take it.

I am only here to defend the umpire that made the call he does not know about this site and I respond to what needs responding.I do agree we all make mistakes. I was giving what the umpire called and the situation. The get off the bucket comment to each his own. I am a parent, coach, player, and umpire also. Yes I do know the rules and think everyone should know them. Everyone does not know all the rules. As long as I continue to grow in my position I am happy with the job that I do. Yes I will come on here and defend those who do not know what is being said of them. Do you degrade the team or coach when they lose? I am responding to the coach saying the whole crew is horrible which is untrue and he knows it.

The point to my post was to be open minded. You defend a situation, and you were not at the park. I know you, I have seen you umpire. I have seen you on a field as a player/coach and I have seen you jump on umpires. We all do it from time to time. We are all Human
