Do your kid a favor and tell her this...if you want to play more...get better!

It a'int rec ball out there. If you want equal and fair PT regardless of talent, maybe rec is the place for you? I just don't think we do the kids an favors by lying to them. Nice try is only the beginning and basic starting point. Nice play is more like!

Does it really matter which team she played for. I can say this they are one of the top teams in Norcal. My post was just to find out why coaches pick up players and don't use them. In the 16 and 18 year old teams players should be perfecting there skills for showcases. And coaches should be working to get all players seen. Not just there core group. BTW she did get picked up with a top org.

And to A&&hole Coach I feel for any players that come to you. Your name says it all. Good luck with your season.

All I did was throw out some questions, gave some examples...

My daughter gets plenty of playing time on her team.

I believe many organizations are there for the money. Or, a good portion of fund raising goes to their Gold Team...

The only time I could see myself playing the top nine all the time, is if my team was fully sponsored from an outside source, not from the players and family...

I believe, if they are good enough to be on your roster, they are good enough to play...

I think the better question is why do certain players not put in the work necessary to get better? I have taken girls and let them know where, exactly, they need work to beat out the girl starting in front of her. Then a couple weeks later I ask what they are doing on their own to improve, more times than not I get the blank stare and a "nothing" answer. They can't rely on the exact same practice the girl that starts is also participating in to make them better then the starter. These bubble players need to be working twice if not three or four times as hard to overtake the starter. Doing the same thing over and over won't be enough. Yes as coaches we need to identify specifics, and most do so, but it is up to the player and her parents to do the extra work. We can't design a practice plan with such limited time anyways around 1 or 2 players, we have to get the whole team ready. those that do the work - are in the game. you can bet on that!

Ahole, I totally agree with you.
You can't help those that don't want to help themselves.
On a side note, It's been said on HB lots of times that if your not happy with playing time, time to hit the road and find another org that better fits your needs. It doesn't always have to be a matter of fairness or equal playing time. Your DD could be a great shortstop but the team has a stud that plays short also and is just better. There is your limited time. Look for a team that is looking for a short, or at tryouts stack up the competition playing that position. Its not hard to see where you stand. Unless you've got a certain colored glasses and your always the best out there
Remember that you are unique, Just like everyone else.
