So if a line drive hits the third baseman and goes out of play is that a ground rule double also? ...and leave me alone...I still haven't let it go. Bobby Knight Rules!!!!!

The question didn't say anything about the ball hitting third bases glove. In fact the question didn't mention any infielder. Try to pay attention and get over it.....your not going to nats....neener neener.

It's getting to the point that I don't want to even answer a question on this board, with all the stray comments that abound. But then again, it's fun to watch children play without their parents around.

Speaking USSSA, Two bases.

Sec 14 AWARDED BASES
All awarded bases must be touched. Each runner including the batter-runner is awarded:
C. Two bases:
1. If a fair-batted ball becomes dead because of bouncing over or, when passing
through a fence, becomes blocked.

Line drive screamer to the outfield, outfield is deep, skips off the grass, hits the fielders glove and goes over the fence. Is this a dead ball, 2 bases? 4 base error? I do not think it is a 4 base error because it has already made contact with the ground....what is the correct answer?

To start, I would suggest dropping the term "error" as that has absolutely nothing to do with rules and can cause confusion.

Speaking ASA, this is a ground rule double. 8.5.I

Also true for USSSA, NFHS, and NCAA.

Agree with the above two posters. Ground rule double. What else could it be? :o
