I'll be making the trip with the ohio stingrays . Hey tsunamitime -- just got home late last night from playing the nsa WS in Columbus ohio. A very suprising team from florida we ( we being the Scioto co Wild Thangs , we placed somewhere 9-12th out of 70-80 teams) saw in pool play that made it all the way thru the losers bracket , at least til the losers semis' was the Florida gators 95. We beat them 6-2 in pool play in the opener.
I worked the day we played them in pool play, my wife (not the best judge of talent) said they looked not even average. The gators lost in bracket play to Indy Excel , then beat 2 very solid Ohio teams , lasers gold 96 and the ohio ice. Ohio ice had a terrible weekend. But both those 2 ohio teams are waaay more highly thought of than our Wild Thang team.
I'll be with the stingrays in Al. The rays were playing in the winners bracket finals this AM against a great looking Johnston Co. Clippers (north carolina) team. I'd say they were the best team I saw the past 3 days. They must travel south to play quite a bit, we traded pins with one of their kids who said they have played close to 400 games the past 3 years.
Indy Dreams , Quad City (Il) and the Indy Diamond chix were still around in the losers bracket semi's along with Ind Thunder 96.
