To be honest, its a ridiculous format. Girls STILL arent seeing the field in ASA Nationals play. These are just glorified "friendly" games. And, one game per day? Just a way to stretch it out and make Midland more money. Hopefully, next year, they go back to pool play games meaning something................

Iagree totally. Everyone here seems to be just wasting their time playing as much as they can get scheduled, not showing everything, and waiting for bracket play. I know that I feel we would have a better idea where we stood if we were giving and receiving all A level game. This seems to be about dragging things out to get more money. I know of at least one team that was allowed to check in on the day of opening ceremonies, not the day before as most of us were required to do. That cost alot of teams extra money, why weren't we told that was an option? Signing out from Midland, TX where the only water you can find is in a bottle. :ugeek:

Oh well, it looks like an ASA trend. I really liked the fromat in Fresno and at Triple Crown. It MADE pool play VERY important. Dont think that would be good at ASA, but, at the very least, pool play games SHOULD be seeding teams, not just making the host city more money..............

so this is the ASA trend? put you in some godforsaken town and drag it out? I'm rooting against the Cali teams, but even I'd be mad if I were them and traveled all that way and had four teams from the same area in the same bracket. Tell me that isn't an easy fix prior to bracket play? Our team is trying to decide between ASA (Normal, Ill) and NSA and USSSA next spring season for our second year 12u team. Didn't Normal, Ill., have the housing fiasco last year? where you had to go to thru one person. And the prices were jacked. How can they not be jacked up if you're the only game in town and this is your town's sole economic focus for the summer and you run all rooms thru a housing coordinator? Is this the ASA trend, SNAFU? ASASNAFU, hmmm. I think we'll stay in the SouthEast, play pool games that mean something, and go to Charlotte/Jupiter FL (NSA) and Disney (USSSA) instead of ASA. Hopefully in three years ASASNAFU will have their act wired for our second year 14u team. I've been fighting for ASA with our group, but ASA keeps screwing up. Maybe Holopaw, Yeehaw Junction, or Kenansville in beautiful Central Florida, could pay the ransom (application) fee to the ASASNAFU and host in a few years. I want to see these tough California teams once in my softball lifetime.

It's idiotic. They tried straight double elim with a blind draw in 2005 and it was roundly panned across the board (they didn't even have pool play at all) resulting in the immediate return to the old format for 2006 and 2007. I guess the geniuses at ASA can't go three straight years without f***ing things up so here we are.

The Gold draw is an unmitigated disaster.

Another way to look at it is that maybe some of the girls that will not see the field in elimination may now get a chance in pool play since the games don't count.

Sounds like more of "The Girlscout Way"

:o In regards to USFA... 3 pool games that didn't count for crap. The first team we played didn't even play the pools. They came in to town the day of the brackets. 5 LA teams...4 in the same bracket.

Yeah but it's USFA. They were probably the only teams in the tornament.
