ASA BERTHS

What's on your mind?

by YellowBalls » Mon Aug 04, 2008 7:47 am

I heard this past week that ASA will soon change some of their berth rules for teams who win Nationals or Westerns. Is it true that a second year team who wins/places will not be able to carry their berth up to the next division and compete the following year at USA/ASA Nationals? :?: :?: I hope this is just a bad rumor... IMO teams who win/place at these championships should continue to get the honor of a berth to whatever division the team will be in the following year.

I am unclear of the change (if any) exactly, but it had something to do with the 18Gold division.... Someone please shed some light if you know what's what...

I doubt they would do something stupid like that. That would be like having "pool play" games at Nationals not count for anything. Oh wait, they did that this year....uh oh!!
Go.....
Angels,
Raiders,
Lakers,
Trojans!

I think ASA was too LAZY to want to deal with having to figure out who played whom out of pool play, what a shame to risk injury to these players for nothing.....

The ASA "pool play doesn't count rule" has been effect since January. I know that all of our ASA tournaments this spring and summer had the rule in place and we played that way. After reading these posts, it appears that know one else played by the rules until Nationals. Is that the case?

I am sure that they will go back to the regular pool play next year. I can't believe that they would do this again.
