NorCal

Back to something fun

by neighborsherry » Mon Sep 05, 2011 4:30 pm

How about we get back to discussing something fun.

Who are the top 12's, 14's and 16's teams to watch this fall in Nor Cal?
Who are some of the top athletes, pitchers, catchers and hitters in each age group to watch play?

Well I cant give you individual names but if you want to see the best young ones in NorCal, most if not all will be at Arnaiz field for the annual OnDeck Softball NorCal event on Sept 16th. NorCal talent pool is getting bigger and bigger and that is very exciting.

Quick question(s): is the OnDeck NorCal event called that simply because NorCal is the location? Or is it because that is primarily where the invitees are from? Just wondering. But, yes, very cool stuff to see I'm sure. BTW, is it open to the public to go & watch??

With a lot of teams having a high amount of turnover it's hard to say. My DD's in the 14s and it seems like the only team that didn't have much turnover was the Lady Magic. Both the Mizuno teams in the 14s are gone. Loomis took his team to 16U. All the 12s are going to 14U, and the now older 14U teams will be playing 16U half the time anyway. Even before then on any given day the 14's were pretty wide open. I mean the Breeze 96' didn't qualify for ASA Nationals but placed 5th in the PGF.

Who knows who's good anymore?

Based on history of NorCal event you will see a mix of kids from throughout the state, maybe even a few outside CA, with a strong showing from NorCal. YES its open to the public.

So is your DD on the Magic, and what is not a lot of turnover mean? (new pitcher or C or??)

What exactly is considered not a lot of turnover? I believe there is at least one other team that had 9 returning girls.

That's what I mean. If you're bringing back 9 or more players that's an existing team. If you're bringing back 5 players it's a new team. It's just hard with the number of teams who have folded or have changed players to say for sure who's who is all. My daughter doesn't play for the Magic BTW. I didn't mean to imply she did.

With all the new teams that have formed and all the player shuffling, it is kind of hard to gauge who the early leaders are.

There's quite a few good teams playing in RR's 12u and 14u this weekend and a few intriguing matchups that will help put some perspective around the norcal landscape.

Curious to see how some of the new teams stack up against last seasons top teams. Should be interesting.
No courage. No game.
