disqualified at 14U Western Nats from winners bracket.

What's on your mind?

Wow. I know very little about this situation, but my prior expereince (in the 94 age group) with both teams would make me believe that the 94 LAdyHAwks(Chris/Sylmar) only would retaliate, especially with a lead. In other words, dont pull some BS or he can dish well.. The dozen or so times on the field with them the past 2 years they generally are good people.

I have had far worse issues on the field and at friendlies with Crunch. example: 3B coach drops F-bomb at thier own friendly(from the 3B box at umpire - "f'n unbelievable"), in front of everyone, on a called 3rd strike for 3rd out w/bases loaded & doesnt get tossed by the blue. We were NOT happy (as a team) as it happened right in front of our dugout. We all wanted him tossed because he basically yelled it for everyone to hear(and over us celebrating getting out of the jam).. Our pitcher was beaned on the next AB. Definitely a purpose pitch. I thought about escalating but at the end of the day, that isnt the way we do things. That team also taught to tag hard and classic post game hand shakes with sh!ttalking and all.
The spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure.
These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur.

Sounds like both teams got what they deserved.....kind of sad that the parents had to ruin everything for their children....yet again.

It's funny how they are trying to defend their actions. The bottom line is both of these teams took this game to a level it didn't need to be at and the only losers are the girls. I know he said she said, just play the game so what about the hard tag, intentionally hitting of the batter we've all gone through this and if your going to get all bent out of shape about it then you shouldn't be playing the game. We've gone through this and the manager has always said we need to beat them on skill and not sink to the other teams level or dirty play maybe the manager should have handeled himself in a more professional manner and you wouldn't be in this situation. So I hope there was a lessoned learned here if your parents are getting out of control you need to take control of that situation.
On another note my DD has been the victim of hard tags and an intentional beaning which she knows that it's part of the game did she cry, no she's a tough kid. Some of you parents need to grow tougher skin and begin letting your kid learn on their own what's right and what's wrong and that your not always going to be there to protect them, it's just a game.
Just my 2 cents. :D

man, thats a loaded statement.... almost sounds like a troll....

"So what" if someone potentially gets hurt by beaning a 10U-14U player which was directed by an adult? Then what, a retaliation by a coach with the same moral standards? What next, charge the mound by a girls turning into a brawl? Its this mentality that is why fastpitch (amongst other BS) is turning south. Crap. I know what happens in the older ages(18G), but to teach this aspect at the true youth level is flat out wrong, no justification. I hard tag is subject to interpretation, so thats a better way for you dirty-birds to play.... the game shouldnt be played like baseball DODGERblue.

This is why the world is going soft these days, did I say it was right, no I did not but this is reality the way some teams play. My DD was the subject to a hard tag by an "Elite" team did I cry about no I didn't, is this being taught by these coaches who knows I'm not going to waste my time with an investigation on the way some of these teams play the sport. If you read my post it states that the manager always taught our girls never to sink down to the level of some of these teams dirty play if I thought it was right I would have put her on another team that goes for the retaliation. As for the Troll remark I don't post much on these boards to be labeled a troll it was just an opinion. So you can go back to fantasy land where nobody steals equipment and nobody tags hard and nobody is intentionally hit and I'll go back to reality.
Have a nice day :D

dodgerblue-
First off, I apologize for misreading that you condone that type of play and some of the comments associated.. I deserved to get rib'd al little. My problem is I wont accept anything when it involves an adult taking action to possibly/potentially injure a child, breaking this down to the core. Plus I dont think there is anytime this is needed, even if the girl personally makes a comment. Kids need to get tossed more if they do something(including obvious overzelous hard tags), and/or the coaches need to be adult enough to handle things in an adult type fashion like putting the girl on the spot. Again, this is 14U and the lower groups. I cant just sit there and say its just a part of the game(coach instructing the bean), not when they are that young(basically little girls). I dont care what the activity is.

Please....
I have a phone number to a great Anger management class. I think that might actually be helpful if anyone is interested or you can keep pointing the finger at the other person.

I Often read through these posts and have never before registered or felt a need to share my point of view. But today I registered:

My daughter's first experience in travel ball was with the Lady Hawks. Coach Chris knows alot about softball he is an excellent coach. He was able to get the best out of her. He never belittled her or talked down to her. The next year we had to move up or we would have stayed, we stayed in touch in fact if we knew of a girl looking for a team we would recommend The Lady Hawks to the parents!

Now flash forward: At the games I have other kids to watch after and half the time I have no memory of situations that happened during the course of the game nor who we played half the time. A conversation may come up and I couldn't tell you the details.
With that said there are 3 teams in the past 4 years that I can remember where the parents were so off the charts. (Considering the amount of games played and different teams those are good numbers!)

I have a vivid memory of playing the Crunch...
Not because of the talent on the field (which at this level all these young ladies are talented!)
but because of the language that came from the stands.
It would have been very easy for one of our parents to respond and the situation would have escalated!

I believe this:
The umpire sets the tone for the game.
The coaches set the tone for the parents
The parents set the tone for the girls

so if you have a coach that drops f- bombs and is easy to get upset and complains the parents will back him up... doing the same... the girls will act just as their parents

We played the Crunch last year at their friendly. They were great hosts and even invited us to Pizza with them. We've played them at least twice this year and never had an issue with anyone. We played the Lady Hawks in two friendlies and in the Thursday night game at Westerns on the same field with the same umpire that umped the Crunch vs. Lady Hawks. We never had an issue with them either. I did however, complain to the UIC at Westerns about the terrible job the ump did in our game. Refusing to ask for help on check swings, not helping his partner on plays where they were caught out of position. Maybe the UIC should have taken into account the importance and skill level of the Friday night game and placed umpires accordingly. I'm not making excuses for either team but this could have possibly been avoided if a strong crew had been on the field. JMO. Good luck to Crunch and Lady Hawks
