ok....so after looking at the "Garage Sale" at 16 nationals, I saw an ad for the new Easton Synergy composite bats. retailing for $249.

From the website:
"The Clarity has a fiberglass laminate finish that will delaminate or turn white when the performance of the bat exceeds 98 MPH association standards."

Is that a warranty nightmare waiting to happen? (Full 400 Day Manufacturer`s Warranty)

Anyone seen these things?

Yes, I have seen the fastpitch one. It's actually right next to me...LOL. DD got one just before we left for nationals. They are different, fastpitch drop 10 is black and gold.

Why would anyone want a bat that has an "overperformance" alarm?
How about a car that turns red when you are exceeding the speed limit so we make it easier for the police to spot speeders?

Why do they not have a 33/23 in the -10??? It is 33/24. I have one that swings a 33/23, rats.

No worries --- There are three models of Synergy Clarity bat ...

SRV3B is a -8
SRV2B is a -9
srv1b is a -10

The base question remains: why would anyone want a bat that is designed to age toward being illegal with an indicator that says "I'm illegal". Those that don't care, wont. Those that go to tournaments will.

The first question is, "how many hits before it becomes illegal?". 100, 1000, 10,000,000 ?

The second question is, "why not design a bat that stays legal?". It appears... appears that Easton is in a bind with the fundamental laminate design of this series and is trying to market the bat regardless of longevity. It one of those "this bat is hot, will be illegal, but we at corporate are covering our butt so we can get an ASA sticker on the bat" things. If it last 3 seasons... great. 400 day warranty? Against what, "defects in workmanship" ?. Does the warranty include wearout (based on turning white)? Very likely not. So the warranty is probably useless.

This whole thing sounds like an odd marketing/design gotcha that Easton has stumbled into without thinking it all the way through. My daughter likes her Synergy. No issues. I hope Easton does well. But this new bat looks very unfortunate.
