Suggestions needed 12U organizaion N Houston

by sftballjnkie » Fri Jun 27, 2008 12:49 pm

OK everyone,

I'm sure everyone has an opinion on this, so fire away. I need to find a new team for my DD this fall.(Her team has dissolved). She will be 1st yr 12U but even though I am a bit biased, she can most definately hang on a 2nd year 12U team. I just don't know what teams are out there at this level. We would love to stay toward the North side of Houston due to gas prices, but will do what is necessary to find a well coached team for her. Help me out here.

I am assuming you will be playing against all the other girls moving up to 12u. Check out all the opposing teams she played against this year. They should know her and you should know something about them. That would be a start. Good luck

The Peppers have a good reputation. I can't think of the organization out of Conroe by name, but they have done well (how many organizations can there be in Conroe?) The Woodlands Thunder is respectable as well as the Spring Sting, Texas Sting and some of the Spring-Klein teams

I met a number of the SK Velocity parents at nationals in Montgomery. They seemed very nice and have a good club. Certainly worth a look. Spring Sting has a good team also, just didn't happen to meet many of their parents. If their coaches don't have a spot for you DD I'm sure they would be happy to point you in a good direction. Remember you can always look around again in Jan/Feb after fall ball concludes. Good luck!

I appreciate the suggestions. It's been crazy seeing all the "new" 12U teams starting up this year in Houston. SK Impact seems to be starting a "new" 12U and I have not seen where SK Velocity has a 12U team. I have heard good things about Velocity as well. The search is on, but looks as if we will be commuting to a team further into Houston ($$$$$$$ gas money) to get where we need to be for DD. We're not into team hopping every fall and spring and want to put down some roots if we can.

Hi - you know who I am! :D

SK Impact 96 would not be a good move - y'all are very nice parents and would not fit in!

We know someone that is not returning for that reason!

I forgot to mention, but I am sure you already know:

The Rattlers are mainly the former Texas Sting 97

Texas Express is mostly Troublemakers, and you know the pitching rotation is full.

all of those will be practicing out of BBUSA

96 Humble Cobras have completely turned things around with new players and new coaches with D1 experience.

Thanks Mother Goose. Knew about most of those and am of the same opinion as you are on those teams. Don't want to go there again this year. I've looked at Humble Cobras info but am concerned about the same folks as you are and don't want that train wreck.

Curious as to opinions about :

Houston Power
TPS
High Voltage
Texas Fusion

unless you know something I don't know...96 Cobras have made positive changes and the coaching is good/positive/tough...we see them at hitting practice every week...

Not sure about those other teams...
