I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.

Barack Obama may veto the 2012 Defense Appropriations bill because he objects to the executive branch not having totally infinite power of detention.

First they came for the Terrorists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a terrorist.
Then they came for the Muslims, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Muslim.
Then they came for the constitutionalists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a constitutionalist.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.

SOPA is as close to Big Brother as you can get. These morons on both sides of the aisle have no clue what they are doing to liberty. They continue to be the sock puppets of those in the music and entertainment business.

You're not even close blackweirdo...

By invoking Nazism into the present day politcal debate, you've established and confirmed your lunatic roots...

Gun sales are off the charts for the year, will set records. Liberty is not guaranteed in a democracy, as my signature illustrates.

And is also the essence of the second amendment.

“You can ignore reality, but you can’t ignore the consequences of ignoring reality." Ayn Rand

Longbat..have you read the link or the book?
Didn't think so. Calling names really does nothing to further the discussion. Why don't you read the book and then comment with your perspective on the issue. Or at least read the link, and then if you don't agree point out the differences?

The other thoughtful comments are most welcome, even if you disagree.

OTB.... Good link thanks.

Creeping fascism is something that every American needs to be aware of.
It IS happening in this country and if you want to bury your head in the sand and think everything is fine because you live in America, you go ahead. I prefer to remain aware of the incrementalism happening within our government and make my fellow Americans aware. Even if you think I'm a lunatic.

Furthermore:

There will be a serious attempt at gun control down the line. The mainstream media will hype every random act of violence in order to put pressure on legislators to "do something" , for our safety. That's why folks are buying their weapons now. They sense what is coming.
