Top 10 Softball clubs in the USA

What's on your mind?

by Fasterpitch » Wed Aug 20, 2008 11:13 am

This post has been around for many years and I thought this board could make a new and improved list. I think some of the Top 10 has stayed the same with a few change.

Rank the top 10 Clubs as a whole in your state and we can come up with a new national list.

Lakewood only has one team left as the others are going to Firecrackers. I wouldn't count them in this as the better teams left.

Wicked hasn't done much, there are others out there that are better, (Wildcats, Sting..)

Teamsmith's teams seem to leave once they do well.

This just my opinion. I based my picks off of teams that have earned a berth to Nationals from 10U-18G over the years. I could have missed a club, that I am not aware off. All subject to change.

Fasterpitch, your newbie status is showing.

Not sure that anyone who is only around for less than 18 months with one Gold appearance and a team with only one 16u team that has any state-wide presence can be considered the "top" in anything. By that standard you left off a dozen teams, including some rising stars (ie., Texas Express Gold, GT Shockers, etc.)

The Traveler's need to be on your DFW list by any definition. And love or hate them, you have to put the FW Batbusters on the DFW list just because of their size and history of college placements. What about the Avengers on the Texas list? Long-time history of putting girls in college even if you don't like them.

I can give you the GT shockers and the Travelers.

I did not go ten deep in the regions, but you can. It was hard enough to think of any deserving club past 2 in the DFW area.

I have been around long enough, ( only one left of three still playing travel ball). I have seen most of the DFW teams fall way off of the map of softball. They are more into making money, then playing softball. The Travelers club was my mistake. They are a very quality club. You bring up the FW batbusters. When was the last time they have won or been to anything. There are many clubs that I left off because they have not done anything over the past 3 years or more.

This was not about Gold. It was about the clubs in general.

Instead of talking trash about my list, MAKE YOUR OWN......

Not much love for GCH! :)

Here's my shot at VA. This is a little difficult as the Richmond-Norfolk teams do not interact with the Northern VA teams on a regular basis.

1. Shamrocks
2. VA Legends
3. Virginia Stars
4. Hampton Roads Vipers
5. Dixie Chicks
6. Washington Senators
7. Blue Jays
8. Southside Sting
9. Baseliners
10. Washington Glory / Diamond Elite*

* Keep your eye on this team. They are newly-formed and sponsored by the NPF's Glory. The players will have access to NPF players and coaches. All aspects of training will be coordinated via the Glory staff. The staff will also assist players with the college recruiting process. The word is several very good players have signed up.

As you can see that post was from 2006, I'm sure there would be some changes if it were created today. Nationally I would definitely include the Corona Angels when you're talking clubs (not 1 team). I'm not aware of any other club that has had 2 gold teams qualify for nationals the last 2 years.
