Bat Bags

We are trying to find quality bat bags for our team. The ones we bought last year did not last. Ended up with rips and tears on the interior and exterior.

What bags last and have enough room for catchers gear and can be customized?

Tanel and Boombah make great bags. Stay away from Miken great bats terrible bags.

Did you have good results with the Boombah bags? How long did they last?
We purchased them this last season for our team and had an almost 50% failure rate within 3 months.

Not to hijack the thread but is one season the expected life out of a gear bag?

I'm thinking that the bags that have wheels and dragged around are getting beat up more quickly. They don't track well or lean to one side causing the material to wear out. For a bag that costs $100+ I expect it to last 1 year. Maybe we should change to carry type bags. Which might be OK unless you are a catcher.

DD has a Mizuno bag, wheels, 'stick sack', various compartments for everything (not C gear tho)... was a little north $100... now about a year old and holding up extremely well... zippers and wheels all work like day one, no rips, tears or even loose stitching... I was just happy it survived airport baggage handlers.

It does lean and roll over sideways at times, but we learned that's more a function of poor weight distribution than design. In other words, if you're going to put Gatorade and water in there, don't cram all the bottles in on one side.

I have been looking at the Mizuno as a replacement for this year. You can find them for 80 online. Of course if the consensus is one year of life then I guess the Boombah is a good deal.

Be careful on buying Mizuno, that is the synthetic material, we went through 3 sets in less that a year and a half. All rip on the zipper seem. We swapped out for a canvas type and have had no problems.

We have had good luck with the Diamond bags. Used the bag without the wheels last season, I think they last longer.

My daughter has the Ultimate Sports Bag. She has had it for a couple of years now and its still in great shape.

DD got a whelled bag from linedrive a few months ago, not sure but it was this past Spring. So far not showing any wear whatsoever, the wheels roll great, it's wide and never tilts. Plus, it holds all of her catchers gear along with everything else. The boombah didn't look wide enough for all the gear, that's why we went with Linedrive.

If you get a new bag every year as part of the "uniform fee," it doesn't matter how long it lasts! Is there a market for used bat bags? I think I now have three in the garage, and I sold one she used in her final rec ball year (no team name) at a garage sale.

My vote is for the Boomba bag. DD used one last year. The fabric is worn from being dragged through gravel parking lots, but it didn't "twist" like some bags do, no matter how it was packed. I think she could get at least another year's use out of it.

And what is the purpose of all those "compartments?" DD just crammed everything in there any way it would fit.

I agree with 'coolstuff'. The bags are designed to last one year. Who wants a used bag anyway. Hey, ice_67 can you find a bag to put problem parents in during games??
