Well, with Berzerkly you do get all the L. Ron Hubbard books you want on the street corner. And tree sitters that are not students, just pathetic souls looking for attention. Naturally, if you are majoring in Anarchy 101 you will be right at home. And, you have the benefit of living in Bezerkly/Oakland where you can find a wide variety of "alternative lifestyle" individuals filling their noses with random chemicals and shooting each other on drive-bys. Luckily, the professors are, typically, so liberal that their credibility outside the confines of the school remains zero. If you are an illegal alien you get a free ride on tuition. But the UC system thrives based on the regents ultra liberal policies. I think Angela Davis is still at UC Santa Cruz (even worse than Bezerkly) as a full professor making $153,000 a year doing nothing but preaching hate, racism and anarchy.

Luckily, UCSD and UC Davis have been, to a degree, spared this affliction.

From the view point of a recuriter for a major Networking giant..... the college degree will get you the interview but what you say during the interview will get you the job!! Therefore, I would recommend a school that your DD will be comfortable at and learn skills that could easily transfer to into the workplace... leadership, communications, teamwork etc. For those college bound freshman... Six Sigma Black belts programs and industrial engineering degrees are HUGE right now.

Interesting responses! In advising on athletes through the recruiting process, I listen to the desires of the student-athlete and precisely fit those with the offerings of a university and softball program. The key is finding that match – where the athlete is able to play at the level where she can experience success, pursue great things in the classroom, and develop friendships that will last a lifetime.

There are thousands of schools – D1, 2, 3, NAIA, community, and JC – with varying academic strengths and social environments. Personally I believe that attending the most recognized academic institution is important because of its contribution to the athlete’s career and life-long success, but it is not for me to decide. The most important thing in all is finding the key – that synergy between a student-athlete and the university/coach/softball program.
