Are thre any laws that say they have to offer any sports at district expense?
Do you know which colleges have done that? Is that a common thing, and I am just unaware?
I am a little surprised that this is such a big issue in California. I have lived in two different states, and I have not seen this much of a problem with equality in fields, facilities, etc., at the HS level.
In Texas, there is still quite a bit of the old school guy, trying to sneak in a little extra in equipment, better coaching, etc., to the boy's programs, but nothing so obvious as the field inequality that appears (from this thread) to be going on in California. I have been even more surprised that a lot on here are okay with the treatment, or at least, not concerned enough to take any action against it.
To the poster who said that their 14 yr.old daugher is okay playing on a baseball field - do you think the baseball team would be okay playing on a softball field? Maybe they would be, just wondering how that would go over. My dd would not take that so well.
I thought about all of the schools I had been to in Texas, from 1A to 5A. Every one appeared to have a pretty equal allocation of money on their facilities between boys and girls - at least as far as baseball/softball facilities.
Maybe Donnie would have more input on the HS fields he has been to in Texas.
