One girl on the bench, texted the whole game. The girls would come in from the field and gather around "miss phone girl" and ask to send a text or read what was being sent.
The coach would have to yell at the girls to take the field, 2-3 times and also yell at them when they were on deck.
The coach was by himself, but still, I would have sent the girls home rather than put up with being ignored and defied.
This was an 8th grade team. The 7th grade team was pretty good and had 2 really good pitchers. I asked why the good pitchers weren't on the A team and I was told that they keep each grade together.
I thought, "Well i bet you guys don't scrimmage because the B team would win. "

Oh, and it was 96 degrees at 4PM and neither dugout had water. I didn't understand that at all.
Most rule sets only allow communication devices related to scorekeeping to be used on the playing field or dugouts.
I had a coach using a cell phone in the firstbase coaching box last weekend. Our conversation went something like this:
Me: Coach, you cannot use your cell phone while during the game. Please end the call.
Coach: (Ends the call) It's my wife, I have to take her calls.
Two innings later he's on the phone again in the coach's box.
Me: Coach, please discontinue the call or I will have to take further action.
Coach: I told you that I have to take my wife's calls.
Me: Next time you take her call during the game, let her know you're done coaching for the day.
Coach: Now you're being a smarta$$.
Me: You can share that perception with her when you get home.
