12U Ranking - Accomplishments & Tourney Aspirations

by 99NorCal » Fri Jun 01, 2012 2:22 pm

I'm starting a new thread and appending my last ranking with notable achievements. Let's define notable - no silver championships, no DF/Play All World, no 3rd place finishes in smaller tourneys, etc. I'm also including team aspirations for the end of spring. I can only include what I have researched and found on team sites and tourney sites, so please help me out so we can all see. If you know of anything else I can add, please PM me or comment on here with the information for that team and I can adjust.

Anything missing isn't meant to be disrespect to a team. RR doesn't update tourneys well. If you really want to have DF/Play All World wins added, I'm game. Let me know what missing info there is so I can add it.

1. RR Gold - 14U 3rd Place RR Gold Memorial Day; 5th place Fresno Force - ASA or IFA?

I can appreciate that. So it's important for everyone to know that there are no ties in 1st and 2nd. 3rd place is a tie with another team. So that means no 4th place and the next place is given to 5th. 5th place is a tie with multiple teams.

Yes, I could put (T) after all those or try to research whether those tourneys were semis or quarters, but dang, I have to work! :)

Looks good 99. How about adding a list of the "top teams beaten", similar to what is here:

Tenshun, I like that and was thinking of adding it based on what you have done in the past. Question though, any win or elimination/bracket play only?

I think it makes sense to look at any win in an actual tournament, whether in pool play or championship bracket play. Even though teams may be more flexible with how they play on Sat., they are still trying to win. Wins on Sat. also show how much depth a team has and depth is needed to go deep on Sunday.
No courage. No game.

I think you are almost spot on. However my only question is why would Xtreme be ranked higher than Norwood? You listed wins and they have more. In every ranking they seem to always place well but they're records just don't prove it. Unless they are based on possibilities and in that case they lost they're #1 catcher and #2 pitcher so the chances of things getting better for them are slim and Stones would be better cause he has those two players now . All the teams on that list have improved drastically but Xtreme and they still are placed close to the top. But if your adding fall\spring together then your list is correct.

I see your point. I'm looking at this as the long season that it is, kind of like Major League Baseball. A lot of games are played and no one goes undefeated. Even the World Champs will lose plenty of games, even to last place teams.

This is a current season ranking only and not taking into consideration anything they did as Team California. So I'm looking at the overall performance and in an instance where the teams are close together in the rankings, I have to look at head to head play. If they were further apart in the rankings, I'd probably put Norwood ahead. To my knowledge Xtreme has beat Grapettes Norwood but not the other way around.

Would be nice to see them in the same tourney again, but that might not happen before this season is over.

Rather than edit the previous posted rankings, I think it's important to keep that in tact to make the comments that come after make sense.

Thanks to someone for pointing out a finish I attributed to KG Tracy instead of KG Concord. If there's anything else, please PM me.

No surprise after the Grapettes tourney that USA Elite and Breeze 99 jump in the rankings. Not playing in ASA Memorial Day tourney hurt them before but now they're climbing. Crossfire enters the rankings with a 3rd place finish, bumping Thunder Elite.
