12U Ranking - Accomplishments & Tourney Aspirations

by BeastMode » Wed Jul 04, 2012 11:17 pm

For example...

all 2000 teams may have known that all 99 teams may have had some advantage all season long. But they took the Challenge and tried to compete with these teams at any given tournament.

But now that the 99 teams qualify for a national event but yet decline? Where is there ability to compete to teams that may have the advantage. Challenge your team to a National Event. Or are you looking for a trophy?

@ beast, where else were the 00 teams going to play? You say they didnt win the tournaments they were in but should be ranked ahead of the winners just because they showed up, that seems to be a bit odd.
@ 99, you put a lot of thought into your rankings, but just because some people find a couple holes in your rankings doesnt mean you have to go on the defense. If you remember before you started your rankings you were picking apart 1st to 3rds rankings. but i will will back up my thoughts with a one time and only one time ranking.
1 RR. I have a hard time putting them in here mainly because they just havent played 12's this year, but they do well in the 14's.
2 Mizuno. They are the cream of the crop out of the teams that have played at 12u tournaments this year.
3. SJ Sting. They seem to be peaking at the right time. I dont really care who beat them in april or may. I dont think those teams can do it know.
4. KG Hitters tracy. solid young team that is playing solid ball right now. Winning their metro puts them here. My opinion is they are the best 00 team.
5. Grapettes Kapp. Although they have been very inconsistent most of the year, they did EARN a birth to premier.
6. CC Dirtdogs. Won their metros. Other than that they have done absolutely nothing. If not for getting credit for metro win they would not be in top 10.
7. Heat cota. Won their metro, which in my opinion had the toughest competition out of all the metros in norcal.
8. Breeze madison. EARNED a birth to premier. Other than that has also done nothing all season.
9. Breeze 99. Had a very good run at premier qualifier, just finished short. They also havent done much all season but also seem to be peaking right now.
10. Crossfire. They are a solid team, not sure they are 10 or not but somebody had to be here.

As far as Grapes SN goes, that team has no business going to premier, they are not a good team now. They did well early on but that team is no longer taking the field. Team extreme, why do they continue to play up when they cant even win at 12? Mizuno stone, 2 and done at premier qualifier, and not a peep out of them since the 2nd place finish at memorial. NV rapids, where have they been?

Beast - thanks for clarifying what you meant.

SJ Sting did get a PGF berth and appears to be headed to PGF nationals. Grapettes Kappmeyer earned one but had already signed up for TCS long ago. What to do now? Breeze '99 appears to be headed to ASA Nationals to take the berth not accepted by Team Xtreme. But PGF championship page shows both Breeze '00 AND CA Breeze Elk Grove listed as teams that have begun the signup process. Were they offered an invite? Clerical error? As for a couple of the other '99s, Team Xtreme and Mizuno Stone did try to qualify for PGF nationals but didn't earn the berth. Likely they'll both be at Westerns as a consolation but maybe not for lack of trying for a berth, although Xtreme did give up its ASA berth.

WowReally (like the handle) - wasn't trying to go on the defensive. Just advocating for others to do what you just did--providing your insights into a ranking of your own. Much more helpful than just saying no to someone else's.

It gets interesting at this time of the year. We all know bits and pieces about the teams, along with inside things that others don't know, like who left, who got picked up, who's on the outs.

@ wow really! - believe me there are more than enough options for the younger teams to play where they like..... IFA, GY Sac/Roseville, Grapettes tourneys, Bratz, USSSA, NSA, Friendly's, etc. You can find tourneys anywhere. The younger teams choose to compete. They go after the olders ones to compete at a higher level.
My rankings are probably a little bias...but yours are pretty good. I just want to hear that our older 12U teams are stepping up and going for it.....nothing more.

My opinion to be top 10 you got to play at a National Event.

I give my props to RRGold Miller for playing 14's most of the year. It's not about wins or losses to them it's a team that prepares themselves and their players.

although, Softball is in a weird transition right now.....going from ASA to Premier. But Either tournament will be a good one to represent.

Norcal 99- great stuff...keep up the rankings. your doing a great job. Also good to hear teams are going to Premier or Nationals. Every team should have a goal at the beginning of the year. And if they fall short and go to Westerns it's all good. At least they tried and went for it...

That's pretty cool Team Xtreme earned a berth to PGF. Did they win a berth or get an invite? I guess it really dosent matter. Its good to see some ofe the better teams going down there playing. I've seen the rankings and I probally agree with some and not others. Iv seen most of these teams play and I think norcal has some good teams going down there to play. With RR,Dirtdogs,Garcia and now Xtreme I think norcal has a shot for at least top 5. Just my opinion im a norcal supporter.

PGF had two qualifiers at 12U cancelled so they have invited the next 3 NorCal team from the Stockton PGF Qualifier and USA Athletics from SoCal.

It's looks like Xtream, Breeze, and Mizuno Stone are going to PGF. Xtream should do good.

Xtreme has one pitcher and has bad coaching. What makes you think they will do well in a week long tournament at pgf when they have trouble doing well locally for a weekend. Good luck.
