I am surprised this coach threw this out on a public forum instead of having a face to face with the parent.
I will say it’s too bad Coach Ron’s past was brought up. I have known this man for many years and am a true believer that everyone makes mistakes. He has paid for what he did in more ways than one and has never tried to hide this from anyone. Ron chooses not to deal with any finances on his team for a reason and I think people deserve a second chance in life. That said he did open the door when he posted on a public forum.
As for Coach K. He is a great guy who is just looking for the right thing for his daughter. Yes he was a coach and I am sure the few who have blasted him here have done so because they were one of those typical team jumping parents who would rather blame the coach than anything. With that said because he has coached many parents come to him for advice and he talks to a lot of coaches at tourneys. Does this mean he is recruiting or making deals?? No…
We have had many talks about his daughters plans and not ounce has he voiced his thoughts of coaching another TB team. Possible assist on what ever team his daughter makes if the situation is right but his sights are set for another area of Softball right now.
I know of at least 5 other girls on this team who are looking for a possible new home. All of whom have echoed the same thoughts. Coach Ron is a good coach of the game but has no idea how to deal with young girls. These girls are at the age that any female or male role model in their lives will have an influence on decisions they make later. When a male role model in a young girl’s life treats her like garbage and constantly talks down to her it is the parent’s job to protect them. What does being verbally abusive every time they hit the field or make a mistake teach them? Maybe it will teach them winning means more than self respect, or for later in life that a rich abusive husband is more important then being treated right by the men in their lives. Many life lessons are learned in this game and everyone has a choice who their daughters learn those from. If you think I am over the top on the way his players are treated go watch them play or practice.
I hope these girls can put this behind them and enjoy Nationals. Good luck in Indiana!
