Which is better rotational or linear hitting?

by MrHittingCoach » Fri Jul 27, 2012 10:15 pm

This question is obsolete!

~ nobody teaches to start your swing with your hands...
*** There is a heel-toe action right after the stride foot lands that starts a chain reaction. The front heel lands, the back heel lifts and begins to pivot. This activates the hips which activates the upper body.

~ a short/direct path to the ball is the most efficient way to get the barrel to the ball. Its short, quick and explosive. NOT linear!
*** Yes its down to the ball! Dropping the barrel so you can swing up to the ball forces the barrel to cast away from your body, hence a long swing. Keeping the barrel above your hands creates the shortest path to the ball. It also puts the wrists in the proper position to accelerate the barrel through the zone.

The pertinent question is: Do you have a long or short swing? This is a major factor in determining how consistent and how quickly you get the barrel to the ball...

> Very athletic softballers can get away with a long up to the ball swing with loaded bats and oversized sweet spots. The question is will they be able to against college pitching?

Why are you asking the question?

In both cases the terms are simply used for marketing/sell you a DVD. ALL PRO BASEBALL PLAYERS AND SOFTBALL PLAYERS IN COLLEGE USE ROTATIONAL HITTING TECHNIQUES.

www.rightviewpro.com

It will show you a demo on what you are looking for as it defines the movements of what you call rotational hitting. If you study MLB hitters over time linear or extension hitting never really existed on a high level. One other thing. Make sure you study the actual motions and not what people tell you. Look at still photos, slow motion video, etc. You will come to the conclusion all hitting is "rotational." If you don't private message me!

Your killing me, take a look at some still pics of three elite swings in the game right now, Puljos, Hamilton and even a young Harper, you tell me if the barrel is above the hands at contact? Hamilton and Harper are extreme rotational and very explosive, as are just about every other top hitter in the game, softball or baseball. I have tons pics of the top softball hitters ever in the game , every single one of them, same result at contact. Having the barrel below the hands has absolutely nothing to do with what you call "long swing", we call it disconnecting, you can disconnect with ANY swing. Look at any elite swing at contact, look at shoulder angle, that creates swing plain, and it sure in the hell isnt "flat" neither does it enable you to swing "DOWN"!, yikes!

You show me a "down to the ball" approach photo from a elite hitter?

With the content in your post's you are making yourself out to be a typical "rec" ball instructor trying to get a name for himself, so do yourself a favor and stop while your not buried yet, cuz the HB people will bury you in a NY second with that content.....
