OMG, how can the kids look at themselves in the mirror, what are the other kids at school going to say, maybe sell the house and move to another community where people havent heard !? We should probably line up counselors all over the nation to handle this crushing blow to all those obviously 3rd rate girls.

More to the post then what was wrote, was really just for the History then anything. You read a little to much into it.

Please do not bill me for the moving charge or the counselors.

No, not really more to the post than what was written, you stated cleary that if you are not on the list that you are not really a gold team. Sad to see that in 2008 there were only 12 Gold teams in the entire state. If there was more to it, then this entire post was clearly "shock value" and just an attempt to stir something up.

Anyone can call themselves a softball team even if they suck. What's your point? Gold is a label many teams put in their names more than anything else to distinguish the "purpose" of the team: to strive to play at the highest level, play major showcase events, get their kids recruited, etc.

If ASA wants to limit 18u's top level, why not creat a "platinum" division available only to teams who previously have qualified Gold and limit the rosters to college players and players, who have already signed a national letter of intent. Why? Becasue no college coach would attend and no one would care, that's why.

Well, considering there are only 64 teams that make it to Nationals each year how many should there be? The problem today is anybody that wants to say "I am a gold team" can do so even if they suck.

Does that mean that all MLB teams that don't make the playoffs are not really proffessional teams? (OK, I'll give you the Rangers on this one). I am all in favor of limiting or coming up with a plan to limit the number of "Gold" teams but just because you don't make the playoffs (nationals) doesn't mean your not worthy of "Gold" classification. Your avitar is pure "Gold" btw.

Now that the fall season is well under way, it appears that the gold level is once again going to be pretty average in the area. I've seen the NRH tourney, Bancroft tourney, Garland and a couple of the round robins even. Looks as though only one or two teams stands out against the rest of the pack. Curious as to others thoughts about the best teams from the Dallas and Fort Worth sides will be. Also been downright disappointed in a couple of teams that I really thought would be great this year. I know it is fall ball but talent is talent and if you stink in October, you will likely stink in July.
