Slapper unnerves Lowe, sets table for Phillies to Game 1 win

What's on your mind?

by anonlooker » Thu Oct 09, 2008 9:09 pm

Okay, was it only me, or did all of you see what I saw in the Dodgers Phils game 1 tonight?

Dodgers and D. Lowe are cruising along into the 6th with a 2-0 lead when Victorino lays down a slap grounder to short, Furcal rushes his throw, it goes wide and runner ends up on 2B.

My immediate thought was "That's was a great softball hit." I was proud to tell all present that in softball "we run that play all the time". No one was very pleased.

Lowe then serves up a 2R HR to Utley that tied the game, then a solo shot Burrell that made the difference.

All set up by some guy I'd never heard of trying to slap his way on base, his speed causing a throwing error, the error 'just maybe' throwing Lowe off enough that he struggles pitching to Utley, next thing you know - game over.

There's always tomorrow. Or as they say in Chicago - next year. :P
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

I'm a proud anti-dodger fan, go Halos.

Anyway I find myself sort of rooting for them :o , because I want to see Manny beat the Sox in the World Series
It's better to keep your mouth shut and look like you're stupid......
than to open it and remove all doubt.

Maybe they should "put on the shift" and pull 2nd base in and put a Gameface on him.

I thought it was a bad throw by Furcal but a catchable ball missed by Loney. The pitch that Utely hit out was not a bad pitch but a great piece of hitting. If anything got to Lowe it was that first home run......

The bunt / hit that Furcal made against the Cubies in game 2 was beautiful. He hit one right passed the pitcher towards second base to DeRosa while bases were loaded and scored Ethier. DeRosa was unable to make a play.... Hope to see Boston and Dodgers play the final round... Manny against his former team :o Yea that would be nice!

After last night's game, your Dodgers temporarily have the momentum....I would love to see Manny play in the WS this season....great player if he motivated......hats off to Joe Torre and his staff for motivating him.....Torre would have loved to have him in NY, but Manny being Manny just doesn't cut it in The Bronx.

Just got a call this morning and picked of a few tickets to the Dodger game tonight. I will be sitting down the third base line by the foul pole. Anyone else going who wants to meet for a $12 adult beverage? :(
