The "little guy" that draws Tony Rico or Marty Tyson first game might disagree that it's "added opportunity". However I like your idea. This pre qualifier would provide extra championship style bracket play to break out of the exposure mentality in preparation for Gold championship season. As an added bonus everyone would have to "git er done" without college players. Plus like you say, what's fair is fair.
The more I think of it, the more I like it.
choose who gets to be Gold, and therefore who gets to try to qualify, is like using the pre-season college football polls to limit who has a chance to play each other and who gets a shot at bowl games.
