Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. With all due respect and credit to Pastor Martin Niemoller, an update for America:

“In the United States they came first for the rich, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't rich.
Then they came for the middle class, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't in the middle class.
Then they came for the workers, and I didn't speak up because I stopped looking for work and didn’t want to give up my 99 weeks of unemployment.
Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up.”

“In the United States they came first for the rich, and I didn't speak up because I had a 9 am T time at the country club ...
Then they came for the middle class, and I didn't speak up because I was driving the kids to their softball practice ...
Then they came for the workers, and they were either Hispanic, shopping at Walmart or had their jobs outsourced ...
Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up ..."
