There is a second side to that coin that no one is talking about. The TDs at these showcases hold everyone by the short and curlies. Unless your name is Impact or Power or Storm or Glory (to name a few), you have to remain competetive and win games to remain on, or to get on, the "good fields". So if you are an up and comer or a "no name" team, you will do some things to win games that will benefit you in the future and you can't just worry about that one at bat. Because I can promise you that the TDs are keeping an eye on who is winning the games so they can justify keeping teams at Dyess or Burroughs rather than moving their friends from fields 1-4 at Collins.

Since the OP didn't state what organization is DD is playing on, I don't know if this is the case. I am just pointing out that there is at least one other reason not to pitch to a kid when you have a lead in a showcase. Again I wouldn't do this, but I can see why it is done.

Stop crying about it, its all part of the game. Showcases are a joke and a big money maker for the TD's. When my DD was playing the first thing after the game her future coach would ask was did you win! On antoher note in a showcase at the RM last year, the last batter hits a single her coach sends her on to second gets in run down and our pitcher rolls her ankle trying to fill in, her dad was so mad at her and the coach for not walking that batter. Now in a normal game that would have been a single but in a "showcase" last batter the coach was trying to push her to score. Showcase are like rec ball, bat the line up rotate everybody in the field. Coaches want to see what you do at Nationals not CR,GP,Sothlake. So until college coaches want the showcase format changed this is what your going to get. Peace out!

I guess no more discussion is needed, Fastrack2 said so.

Uhhhh its a discussion board. What you are looking for is a blog where you can post what you want and not leave it for open discussion. Start one up and go from there. LOL :o :D

I agree with spazsdad, a bunch of people dont understand the concept of "showcase" - even if there is no one there - specially if there is no one there - go at this kid and try to get her out. Spazsdad's kid and mine are going to be pitching D1 very shortly - and I promise you, there is no way in heck my kid would intentionally walk someone in this situation because she wants to compete - she wants to pitch against the best. And some of the kids she has pitched against are playing at some very good schools. I think spazsdad and I know what 'gets scouts looking and what gets the girls scholarships' - since our daughters, his one and my two have been there and are doing that. Let me clue you in on a very big question that gets asked in questionaires that the big schools ask the recruits to fill out - "Who are the best players you have pitched against (or competed against) or Batted against" . No one where does it say "Who is the best hitter that you faced that you intentionally walked because you obviously know you arent good enough to pitch against ?"

I congradulate you and spazs Daughters. I know they worked hard to get where they are.

I guess you (DonnieS) and Spaz being the experts in the field of showcases and in the field of knowing excatly what every scout wants to see happen at these showcases, should write a book on this, so the rest of us uninformed and unenlighten lowly people can get a small piece of this knowledge. Then we can have no opinions because if we did have any opinions they would be wrong because you and spartz are the experts.

And may not. No one knows. But you have to have enough confidence to compete.

Better watch it poor old MavFan may slaps your hand for not discussing! It has nothing to do with confidence. There is no since in taking unnecessary chances. I'm sure y'alls big D1 DD pitchers pitched around batters. Please
