New Parent looking for 12U team

by newASAparent » Wed Oct 24, 2012 2:44 pm

I'm a parent looking for an ASA team for my daughter. She's a 12U eligible player and I'm not sure what the best teams are around here. We just moved here and I looked at other posts but only saw 12U rankings. I am more worried about good coaching. Can anyone help me? I'm looking for good coaching that can help her elevate her game. She came from a team that won but only on their pure talent and I think it's hurting her now. I'll take any and all advice! Thank you.

Starting in late Jan. OBS Monarchs will start practicing for the Spring/Summer season. I will be heavily involved with that team until the HS season ends in late May. You will likely not be able to find another coach in 12u that is more experienced or teaches the kids more then what you will find on that team.

Thanks for the information. Do you mind me asking what your credentials are? How many girls have you (your organizaition) sent off to college? Where is your team located? Thanks again for the reply.

My apologies. I'm in Sacramento but am not afraid of a drive if I need to.

I have no clue what goes on in 12U, but generally speaking things change so fast I would recommend asking coaches if you could work out with them. It's probably a little late now (DST) but just a thought of try before you buy.

Are there any coaches in particular or teams I should look at? This is kind of overwhelming for me right now.

The last big ASA tournament is going to be Nov 10-11. You will get to check out teams and coaches and parents firsthand. Taking a look there might help you decide who to try out for or who to avoid.

If you really want the info, I will email it to you, even though the info is CLEARLY stated on our web site.

Your kid is in 12u, you say you want coaching, and you are asking about college placement?
Just sounds a little shaky to me?????????????????????????????????????????

I didn't mean to upset you with that. I was told that it was important to find out about recruiting stuff. I was under the impression that by 14U you have to be in contact with college coaches. If I was given bad information, please do let me know.
