DD finally gets to go back to school next Tuesday. Electricity came back to most of the campus yesterday. The Red Cross and the National Guard are going to start finding permanent shelter for the evacuees at the school. Wish all of them the best of luck and hoping that they have homes to return to.

Some pictures taken at the school with some of the evacuees:

This is across the Pond from me- can here the trucks through the night. Whole area still blocked off by National Guard troops.

Spoke with my college roommate. He lives in Long Beach, NY(Long Island) He was evacuated and staying at his Mom's house(with no tower) with his wife and three kids. Bottom of his house was flooded and his deck floated away. he said their were maileboxes floating down the street.

Still no power at the house in CT- getting REAL cold now

In surveying are in Rhode Island- two campers and an RV in the POND- One dumpster(big one) Storm surge ripped septic systems out of the ground and their is a raw sewage issue on the oceanfront areas

Another Nor'easter expected on Wed- concerns again with tidal surges 4-5ft above normal(albeit no full moon) will keep fingers crossed

My dd was so excited. She has never really seen snow fall and stick before. She was so happy. Then the electricity went out again last night. Now, there is no school today as the electricity is still out. She is getting her monies worth of the East Coast this year that is for sure.

I was actually born in San Diego(Dad was in the Navy)- my parents moved back to NY when I was 6 months old(drove x country in a '65 VW) and I have never been back. I grew up on LI, went to College in Western NY and now live in CT-although I am in RI currently for work

Why UNO-do you have a room for me????
