Was the information from the ASA site? I thought I had read somewhere that 16U's was going to be in one of the Dakota's???

hotwheels, 16 nats in '09 is in Sioux Falls.

Looks to me like a clear effort by ASA to build back up 18u "A" by holding it in California. With the change in Gold qualifying, it gives a ton of teams a reason to stay local and with large turnout of California teams, it may well bring out the college coaches necessary to rebuild this division.

We'll see if it works especially since the Texas/OK/Lousiana college coaches won't be going anywhere but College Station. You would have thought that they would have put 16u somewhere undesirable for college coaches like Bangor or Juneau or Sioux Falls again.

Not really. By code, this level tournament must include the first Saturday in August.

No, it came from the convention

I doubt more than 250 people got together and conspired to arrange CA getting this tournament. They failed to win the previous three attempts (12U, 14U & 16U) and withdrew from consideration in the 10U bid.

Their is also a brand new 8 field softball complex being built that Larry Minor had something to do with.
