Any 14u movement going on for the Spring?

by Bigbats12 » Mon Nov 26, 2012 8:33 pm

Trying to navigate the tryouts this upcoming weekend. Which teams need help and which teams to avoid? Been quiet lately but rumor has it a few teams are having problems. Possible defections. Looks like rain this weekend too.

Defections???

if players leave, they have a reason to leave(remember , perception IS reality). You cant get upset if a player leaves because most coaches are also looking to replace players. It is a two way street.

That being said, players come and go all the time. It is just the way this sport works.

We are very happy with what has happened with the Monarchs 14u tryouts. We will definitely be done after this weekend and have gotten everything we were looking for up to this point.

Few more spots to go, but this team will be a huge step up for us.

I to would like to know where and who to tryout for I'm wondering if there is a coach out there that truly would like to keep a group of girls together, build their skills, knows the meaning of rotating players AND is competitive

buahahahahahaahhaha!

To have a core of 12 kids to carry over for a couple seasons is a major accomplishment. I don't think there are more than a handful of teams that can claim they did that.

I do it... and I do it almost every year.

12u team no tryout.
16u team... no tryout
18g team.. no tryout

Next Fall gold team will be moving kids up from 16u, and I will PROBABLY not need a tryout after this Summer.

As far as rotating, we rotate EVERY game on Saturday. Our coaches do the lineups for all 3 Saturday games on a Wed night. And we live with those lineups no matter if we won or lost the previous games. Our pitching and catching rotations are set before we even arrive at the park.
NO player sits two games, and almost every player sits one game. This forces us to allow the players to get innings and show us on the field what they know. It also keeps a coach form pitching the same kid over and over. We carry 3 pitchers, and we pitch 3 pitchers. The kids also know that if they had a horrible game and they are sitting in the next game, it had nothing to do with their horrible game, as the lineups were already done days ago.

Sundays stays ABOUT the same. If we have a kid on the team, then I felt she was good enough to play... so she will play. ONLY in qualifiers would we put the same team on the field 3 games in a row.

I have done it like this for years, and it works for me. Thus the reason we dont lose many players. It is too difficult to try and do the lineups at the field and keep kids getting innings. Too easy to lose track of who played and who sat.

I commend your efforts, and that's the way to do it. I don't know you or have ever had a kid play for yo,u but it sounds like you actually get it. Good job.
