My DD does both at times, but she is only 13. I've been telling her that we need to narrow it down to one or the other (and of course infield and outfield work, she plays SS, a little 3rd and a little OF).
She tried to pitch in one tournament after catching a game, and it didn't go well. I think she could go from pitching a game to catching a game without too much trouble, but the other way (catching first) gets her legs too tired.
Being in WV, we're lucky to have a legitimate pitching coach in the area, but that's all we have, so I don't have to worry about paying her catching/hitting/fielding instructor, he works for free
