Katy Christmas Classic 14U

What my point was a few messages back was just that if the kid is playing high school ball in the spring, its my opinion that they should be playing 18u in the fall (or 16u in this case). But other teams do it, its no big deal. Each team has its own goals and thats their business.

It does get to be goofy at the tournaments, sometimes I walk around and go look at the 10u, or 12u or 14u, just to see what the younger groups look like these days. But the 10u are playing up in the 12, the 12u are playing up in the 14u, and the 14u are play in the 18u. We saw that sometime back and said, lets just play 18u and be done with it. Our kids' attitudes were 'if we lose, hey, they were 18u, what do you expect, if we win, we really accomplished something.'

All good points and well said: "goofy." Kudos to the Corp for bucking the trend, playing the final weekend in the age group set by ASA, remembering they are just kids out to have a good time and sometimes don't have to accomplish anything, and knowing that they have all the time in the world to "prepare for the next" level because that ain't going to be high school ball.

To each thier own. play where you want...... but i will say that most teams play in the fall at the age group they plan on playing in the spring. we saw more than one team "playing down" in the Ronnie Mac as well. As my DD says when i ask her who the next game is against ? " It does not matter, we have to beat who ever they are"
Good luck to all. :D I was a kinda pissed when i found the coach put us in the 14-u and not the 16-u. but after our last showing pehaps we should of tried to get in the 12-u

I know that feeling. And you turn around and look and pray there are no coaches or recruiters watching... but there they are. ' shoulda seen us last week...' etc. etc.

All is good, to each their own!! Although I will say one more thing, if I was looking for just a good time, I definitely wouldn't be going out to the Katy fields this weekend to freeze my butt off, but that's just me!! (Okay, I'll shut-up now!)

If you've got pool games tonight, make sure to bundle up - it's going to be a cold one!! Good luck to everyone this weekend!!

pleazzzzz..they are trophy hunting NO DOUBT.. ALL of those girls are in High School and alot are 10th graders..does it make you feel good to beat some 7th graders..WOW what a way to make a statement!!!!! Your coach should have more sense than to let a bunch of trophy seeking parents run his team! I wonder if your girls will go back to High School Monday morning a brag about beating a bunch of Jr. High Schoolers?????

They were sent to the losers bracket by TPS 95 (finished 3rd) and eliminated by Phantomz ('95 team) (finished 4th), However, they were just coming to have a good time so it's no biggie. I'm sure they really wanted to leave early for the long drive home anyway.
