Saving your #1 pitcher in elimination games

I assume this is your DD...she is an excellent pitcher....likely D1 material....keep your eye on the big prize....let the parents complain when you throw #2, #3, or #4 on elimination day.

thanks sam. i know you are speaking from experience and i put alot of value in what you are saying. it isnt something we usually do, it happened once in 10u in 2006 and again last weekend....but she and our other #1 pitcher do throw 2 games a day some tournaments, maybe 5-7 times a year, and hopefully nationals...the rest of the time they each get usually one game per weekend in friendlies.
we also have two other good pitchers giving us 4.

all 4 should be healthy at the same time when we start up again in january.

nope. it was at a one-day rec tournament in april of that year, with my regular season rec team.
back then, she did great, but about 4 days later, she started complaining of pain around her shoulder blade/back area.
she changed her mechaincs to compensate, and it was a few weeks until she was back to normal. so i know even though they can do it occasionally, it shouldn't be a habit...

in st louis, i had the same two girls throwing i have now. except the other one broke her hand sliding into 3rd base about a month ago...she is going crazy not doing anything, but she should be back throwing in another week or so.
its nice to have 2 that can each throw whatever game we are in. but they have taken turns getting hurt running the bases this winter. In January, we should have them both healthy together for the first time all year. we have 2 others who get innings also.

this monday, she was pretty sore. i asked her where...she said "everywhere!"

I've seen her throw too and agree with Sam. Be very careful.

they used 3 against us sunday night, but ken said he was missing one of his main pitchers sunday.

Gotcha. I definately know the one that was missing. She's very good. But, so was the one that pitched the majority of innings.....

I couldnt get my starter to throw more than one game a day if I paid her. She's a really good pitcher, but would rather throw one game, then go play third. If I keep her in she loses focus and becomes a very average pitcher. I wish I had the problem of having to reign in my starter.
I need another pitcher.

[Sudden Impact 94]

We did have our co#1 pitcher miss all of Sunday for a singing event and the other co#1 missed our first game of Saturday for a soccer game. Beauty of it is they can participate in sports/events outside of softball and still have balance with softball. Our lefty never threw a warm up pitch or pitched 1 ball on Saturday as we knew we'd need to use her heavy on Sunday. Our other 2 pitchers took the load off of her on Saturday and parts of Sunday. Never planned on pitching her in the title game as she had logged 15+ innings that day, that is until player and her parents said she had a couple more innings in her arm! So she really pitched half of the first and last game(s) but had the task of getting us past Victory and Hurricanes.
