12U Teams

by asmackdaddy » Fri Dec 12, 2008 3:30 pm

Welcome to the bucket paul, glad I could inspire you to muster the nerve to express yourself. I know it was hard for me at first, but eventually I did it also. I am not sure who to thank, but I was feeling your pain.

I had trouble sizing an avatar, so I had to hack one and intended on changing it but after using it I felt like the resemblence to me was just to close so I decided to hang on to my new found photo for a while. I will change it, just for you and just in an effort to gain your respect.

Your making me work here, but here are the 8 teams from S Tex that made the trip to Nats last year.
Spring Sting
TPS
Texas Lady Cats
SK Velocity
Coastal Elite
Texas Kaos
Texas Rage (Alvin)
Houston Power

The Bomber/Flames comments were made by them. They traveled South 4 or 5 times last year and said they had no competition in Central Texas and were looking to play better teams. I never heard anything about the Austin team, but the rumor was that they were the 96 team to beat in their area. I think the person making that comment may have confused them with Austins Finest or some other team.

The Bomber Classic is in New Brausfel, and for teams on the Coast that feels pretty far North. What are the BIG tournaments in the Dallas/Ft Worth area? Who are the teams to beat up that way? Like the Comet, I would like to keep up with them and try to catch a game if they ever come our way.

Would you care to take a shot at ranking the 12u teams in your area?

Katy Classic should be interesting. Some good teams have dropped, don't look like The Peppers new additions helped them, and The Aces are missing key players. We will see if the Kaos pick up from the 95 sister team and if the Fury can end the season on a winning note.

Good luck to all and hope the weather holds!

Shock played well, had a few big hitters to help them. Texas Sting '96 was 4th to round out the top teams, Aces were 5th (Shock knocked them both out), all others were good, but just not good enough! My take is that any given weekend these top 5 could end up in just about any order depending on the bracket draw.

The Peppers had quite the tournament. Only two runs scored on them the entire tournament (pool games included). And, one of their big hitters blasted an HR over the center field fence during the Championship game (into a stiff wind).

Smackdaddy, Here is my opinion on top 10 (South Texas)
Bandits
FB Thunder
Peppers
Fury
CF Shock
Red Hots
Kaos
Aces/Sting/Ice/Riptide (I could agree with any of these at the bottom)

I think any team on this list is capable of beating any team on this list, particularly the top 7. I expect to see the top 3 on this list to win more than most.

Your thinking is a little off, the Aces and Sting just sent the Fury and Red Hots home this past weekend in Katy. But you are right in that these teams are pretty evenly matched.

The teams were good but.....maybe if they didn't have so many trophy hunters the real 12u teams could have done better than what they did. A lot of the girls on those teams were pick ups that also played out there in the 14u bracket. Maybe some of the first year 12u teams should have played down in the 10u bracket, oh wait they have more class than that!

It happens every year at this time. The kids should move up in September and start playing with their own age but with the rule being you move up in Jan. those "coaches" stay down for one, two, even three more trophies. My daughter has been playing for quite some time and not one time has her team stayed down in the fall season. If it is time for them to move up, that is where they go. No trophy hunting for them. And yes, there were several teams there with several girls that played in the 14u bracket.
