Houston Area High School Coaches.....

No one said you can't have an opinion. Just don't identify yourself as an umpire and then give your opinion on the coaching abilities of specific individuals. Especially coaches of teams you umpire on a regular basis.

You say you don't dislike these coaches. You say you don't know them, yet you make inappropriate comments about them, as an umpire, on a public message board. Again, this is unprofessional. By your own words you raise a question as to your impartiality in games involving these coaches.

If you are an umpire, be an umpire. Be, or at least appear to be, impartial and act professional.

Sure I do, but the 2 hrs or so that I spend with these people on the field doesn't qualify me to make an informed opinion as to their overall coaching ability. Even if it did, I wouldn't come on a public board, identify myself as an official, and mention them by name in a negative way.

If you are truly an umpire, you know that at the High School level, 90% of the time, the game happens too fast to "play favorites" anyways.

Speed of the game has nothing to do with playing favorites.

If you feel the HS game happens that fast, your college and NPF games must have been a blurr.

Have you read any of the prior posts in this thread? If so, you would know what this is about.

You two9topper and soreshins) must have kids playing for one or the other of the two not spot lighted.

Is this the best you can do? What an absurd statement.

If an umpire is working the same team each week, his assignor is doing a poor job. It's more likely that you have no idea what you're talking about with this statement.

I'm sure it makes Rex feel better that someone as articulate and knowledgeable as you are defending him/her.

Thanks Rex for your opinion.

Opinions were asked for and opinion was given which is great. I found the opinion given to be informative without obvious malice. Nobody was slandered, so relax.

It's not often that a kid can reap the benefits of playing for a former D1 coach. I for one am glad that mine is playing for this so-called overrated coach.

Haack is a good man and a great coach.

He expects more from my DD than any other coach she has ever played for. For me, that's the best thing for her and her ambitions of playing at the next level. I can guarantee you that his players don't feel he is overrated.

Here's to a great 2009 season.

Good luck to all.
