what happened to

What's on your mind?

Not sure what he is like now but do know that when TD was at University City High (after Lisa went to UCLA), when he "left the team" during the season, his players revolted by quitting the team after the new coach was hired. They actually liked playing for him and liked what he had to offer as a coach.

Keeping in mind this was "only" HS and they didn't have to endure his lengthy practices or practice between bracket games and stuff like that.

I have no idea what this means. I have no idea where a hitters kitchen is. If you mean interfering with the pitcher / catcher signs: db, out.

"I have no idea where a hitters kitchen is."

At this age group, it is usually in their Parents House ... :ugeek:

I'm sorry...to bother / distract / harrass for lack of better terms. That post was not so much a question; I know it's not against the rules. Lemme see if I can put this into text;

Hitter gets ready to hit and stands with one foot in box getting signs from base coach.

3rd baseman comes running up to corner of batters box and shuffles feet, looks around, checks the weather, debates ordering a chicken bowl from snackbar...whatever. Pitcher is getting signs from catcher at this point.

Hitter has her sign from coach, steps into box. Pitcher has her sign from catcher.

3rd baseman now runs back to position and we are ready to go.

5. Stalling? Do you mean: your time is running out and the other coach requests to use a legally available conference to discuss something with his players? Would I grant that? Of course. Why wouldnt I? I am there to enforce the rules. Or what do you mean exactly?

Not at all...

Lets say, for example, it's 2nd inning and his/her team is up by one run. From that point on literally every every third pitch or so, coach has a 'question' for the officials, girls instructed to tie shoes, 'official' conference is requested, coach asks move players around, coach wants to get an 'understanding' of rule [i]xyz[i] as it applies to today's events, etc. To the point where game is slowed to a crawl (at best) and maybe goes 3 or 4 innings max before time limit expires.

I'm not talking about a scenario wherein team is up by one or two and we are 'getting close' ( 5-10 mins left) to time limit and time outs are requested.

I'm asking about a game plan, if you will; once ahead, slow this to a stop if possible.

IDK, maybe this is simply good coaching and a way to manipulate the officials and time limits to his advantage. :(

I heard half the team was detained at the border stop on the 5 Fwy while coming back from a 9 hour practice. Never to be seen again. :(

Does he really know the game or is it simply that his DD was a UCLA star? Any Thunder parents out there?

I don't know TD. But I read this article and thought you all should read it too.

Apparently they are doing just fine, only need one or two more players! Found the following on another site…

SAN DIEGO THUNDER 14U (DODD) LOOKING FOR PLAYERS 12/12/2008
We are looking to add one or two serious and dedicated athletes to our existing roster. We desire starting players with all positions open for competition.

Our coaching staff has won 3 ASA National titles, and this team intends to qualify for the 2009 14U ASA Nationals in Marietta, Georgia. Team practices are held on weekends only either in Orange County or in San Diego
