I need a bat....

What's on your mind?

by Lunatic Fringe » Tue Dec 23, 2008 8:36 pm

My DD has used and loves the DeMarini Phenix in a -10 (she swings a 33" 23oz) and is used to swinging a balanced bat as opposed to end loaded. She seems to break 'em after 13 months of use which will put us in the market for a new stick soon.

My problem is that I can't find a 33" -10 Phenix for love or money. I know that the composite bats have changed since this July and aren't as hot as the Phenix is/was. What is a good replacement?

The DeMarini F3 is 33 -10 and, IMHO, as good, if not better than the Phenix.

Sorry.....of course it's the CF3. With one kid playing baseball (and using the red, small barrel F3) and another playing FP, it's easy to understand my confusion. Please forgive my misinformation. I believe it is the official bat of the ASU softball team and recommended by Samantha Findlay (2005 WCWS MVP, current Assistant Coach at DePaul University)

I am looking at the Demarini as well, as my DD has always hit with Easton... and I am getting frustrated with them... I know, what's new!

+1 on the CF3...

Other good bats out there too, even from prior years (like the old silver n' blue Synergy) but if you're going with a current model, this one won't certainly won't let you down...
Being from NorCal, what do I know anyway???

Thanks for the tip on the CF3.

Now tell me, how much difference in pop do you think there is in composite bats between the '07 & '08 models and the '09 models?

I know it may be a little early to tell so I'll settle for your gut feel...

DD's Christmas present last Christmas was a DeMarini CF3. It has gradually replaced her beloved RT as her favorite bat. She feels it stings less if she hits a bit off the sweet spot and has been a most reliable performer.

No new bats this year........her hitting is fine.

Highly recommended.
