Dan thanks for your insight but in my summation I believe that organizations confuse people by having more than one Gold team and it gives lesser value to any of the Gold teams that is in the organization. I really disagree with Lori and how she feels that putting the word Gold by your name leverages your odds for college.
I feel that no matter what the girls talent level is in North Texas she can play in one of these mega organizations and their parents can brag to everyone that their DD plays for BB Gold, Glory Gold etc without really being a true gold player. I also feel that downsizing and making it a honor to play on one of these teams where it does take a true gold player to even break the roster would start legitimizing North Texas Fastpitch.
If your able to run out 18 girls instead of 80 girls in one organization and call them the best we have and even though it could mean little suzie can’t play with them (BTW) there will there are plenty of teams on the second rung that would be happy to take her. It will start making North Texas stronger. I also feel that is why these Oklahoma Teams and Kansas Teams seem stronger it is because people from all over their state comes to them and they don’t start adding teams to their organization to accommodate the player they make them earn a spot.

Here is one concern I have with the multiple "gold level teams", what happens when "little Suzie" is no longer the best player on her given college team? The fact is that one of the main reasons more and more gold teams are being created is so that little Suzie doesn't have to sit the bench for one of the better or more elite teams. So, my concern is that when little Suzie goes to college and is now on an all-star team of "gold players" that she will not be able to cut it either mentally or physically. Then when little Suzie leaves said college word spreads among college coaches that said organization's players can't cut it in college.

I get that eventually that organization in turn won't last but my point is that by just continuing to add more and more "gold" teams in the long run I don't think you are truly helping the girls as much as you think.

The number one problem that I see with North Texas softball is that there are very few parents that base their observations and assessments in reality.

PS. Be nice, it's my first post but I have been reading HB for a long time and just thought I would throw out this concern as it is something I feel strongly about.

Keep posting Fasterpitch . . . when you get to a 100 posts you get a "Gold" star. But with continuously stupid posts like those above you won't be invited into the inner circle no matter how bad you want to be taken seriously.

North Texas Softball is doing just fine by every measure whether we regularly crack the top 10 at Gold nationals are not. As far your referenced OK and Kansas teams, we are curious who exactly you are talking about because those of us who actually know something about the Gold-level in North Texas just can't figure that one out (my guess was the OK Babes and Wichita Mustangs). Enlighten us on who is kickin' our butts north of the border.

Dan after doing a little research back in 1994 The Texas Gamblers from Dallas Texas is the highest placing Gold Team from North Texas they got 4th place at the Gold National Championship. So Texas Glory does NOT have the highest ranking. I believe you should get all your facts before self promoting yourself.
