Bomber Shootout-14U

Anyone know if the 2009 14u Bomber Shootout will be in Seguin or New Braunfels, TX? I would not spend a dime to go play in Seguin again. That place is absolutely horrible, it should be torn down and condemned. Oh, I forget the bees will attack at moments notice.

It's in Seguin (Huber Ranch) and is listed on VTD. Already 24 teams entered.

We played there this past weekend. It is an odd park, but may turn out to be a good park in @ 3-5 years. Need spectator protection, no bleachers, muddy warm up area.

On the good side, loved the concession building, fields were good, umpires were good, and they have a seperate off-road driveway for your RV.

Unbelievable. We finally get a class fast pitch park and someone has to bitch. Yes, we hate the well groomed fields, always marked fields, clean restrooms, very nice parking lot, and owners who are waiting to respond to any service issue.

That was me, hard to miss. Big and ugly. So you are with TS's group, cool. T and I have been friends a long time.

Both my dds play on that team, this is our high school team, depending on when you were there, L was either 2nd, SS or bench and K was either pitching, 3rd, or bench.

Huber Ranch is a first-class facility! Easily comparable to anything in Dallas, Houston, etc. We played there for the first time this weekend, and the American Freedom organization will return without hesitation!

It is new, and yes there are upgrades and finish-out that needs to be made. People forget, however, that when the Ballfields at Craig Ranch opened it also lacked netting to protect from foul balls. You can complain about available warmup space at many, many fields. The owners are working on this issue. If I remember correctly, CR may have lacked bleachers when it first opened.

If I had complaints, it would be to eliminate the gate fee. It leaves a bad impression and is out-of-step with what teams in Dallas and Houston are used to. Also, the need for an 8-foot fence down the outfield sides in the main entrance area for safety of pedestrians. But, I for one like the low fences everywhere else. Personally, I liked the brick walls behind home plate. They give the place a "college field" atmosphere, and it certainly changes how balls are played on overthrows and pop flies. And yes, my DD is a catcher. The concession area and dugout are the best anywhere!

Huber Ranch is run by fastpitch softball people who are responsive to their customers. Anyone who is dissing this complex either hasn't played there, expects too much, or has some axe to grind. With patience and loyalty, this complex will become a destination facility.

So here is my question, the tournament listing on VTD states that only 20 teams will be allowed in each division. Well, the 14u division already has 24 teams listed as attending. So are the last 4 the start of the waiting list? Just wondering.

Never been to the park in Sequin but looking forward to it based on responses on this thread and others. I can't tell you how many parks I've been at where the fences from dugout to outfield are under 8 feet and I have never thought anything of it. The brick backstops sound interesting but as mentioned before, many college parks have that so why not? It sounds like a nice park and I can't wait to get back into the swing of things. Bring on Spring!

Lefty, Seguin is a convenient nice little place. Our kids think that Huber and Seguin was designed for them - here are 5 nice fields, and then within 2 miles, all the fast food places you want, plus their morning favorite, IHOP, and their evening favorite, Chilis. Having the local Texas Lutheran campus there, they enjoy the site seeing too (boys).

Besides those 5 fields, there are 4 over at the old fields next to the rodeo grounds so 9 fields not including the fields at Texas Lutheran is pretty good.

BTW, for those of you that were there, that was my wife who took the foul ball in the chops on Saturday evening. She was talking to a coaching friend and the ball bounced off of a wall and hit her in the upper lip, still pretty swollen. She had to take a lot of kidding that night - her lips were being compared to Angelina Jolie (guess who that made me).
