Paid Coaches?

They do not get ANYTHING ? .........No Hotels paid, No travel expenses ..NOTHING....and they do not have a kid on the team.

See you guys should have had your ASA fees go up more like the umps did. Always feigning the "volunteer wah-wah" card while running big time "nonprofit" organizations, tournament organizations, getting salaries, etc. There are very few coaches who look like they are starving, thats for sure... and these TB organizations are a big time business. $1 raise in fees to you guys. $1 in decades.

No. The top Gold coaches make money though private instruction....some run tournaments and many have regular jobs.

We have similar programs here.

Certain indoor facilities start teams and offer their players clinics, that have to be paid for. Of course they don't call them mandatory....but it's pretty well understood that if you don't attend, your spot is not guarenteed.

Actually it's more of an aimed throw with the cap off the container and directed at the umpire involved with a disputed call. Thanks anyway.

Not the same here...I don't know of any of the top Gold coaches that expect their players to take private lessons from them.

The only criteria to paying a coach is are they worth it ,Do you feel you are getting your money's worth and then can you afford it.There are tons of coaches out there some are free and you get what you paid for and some are a great value cuz their good and their free.I think it is well worth it to have a paid coach come to run your practices if the they are a major upgrade from the free staff,everybody wins there the kids learn and the coaches learn and hopefully carry it on.I would rather the paid coach run a practice where they can watch my kid take 20 grounders or flyballs than go to our game and your kid can go a couple of games without a ball going her way.

Ok...I have a few newbie questions about paid coaches. We have considered bringing in a paid coach because we (the current coaches) feel that it would be an upgrade and the girls can relate better to someone who has played the game at a high level.

1. How do these paid coaches get paid? By the hour? What is the going rate?
2. How do you find one of these coaches (in Houston)? We have been looking for about a month or two with no luck so far. Any leads or suggestions?
3. What do the coaches expect in terms of control over the team? Do they make player decisions or simply run practices.
