Here's my 16u list for top of the pack teams and I am sure I will miss one or two so keep me in line.

1. Shockwaves
2. Dreams Eric's
3. Gators
4. Akadema
5. Chaos
6. Dreams Reese if they play up
7. Crusherz out of the western part of the state
8.
9.

8 and 9 are the ones I forgot about so fill in the blanks.

Then my prediction will be 3 or 4 of these teams will be in the same half of the bracket in the first qualifier so they can beat each other up so that some weak team can advance in the bottom half.

Can't wait to see the first draw to see if I am right.

I agree with that. Never heard of the Crusherz though and the rest are probably filled in with the Chix, Xplosion, and Fire. As much as the Terror have improved, they probably wouldn't make through the second round at the ASA State with all the teams there. The Fire can play, the Chix did not play very well this fall/winter (not to their potential), Xplosion - its hard to gage them. IMO
What about the Earthquake from Evansville? They usually are competative.

Who are the Crusherz??

Indiana Krusherz from Shelburn have been a real good team since 12U. The Indiana Earthquake Gold team from Evansville was a very good team last year but moved to 18U this year, so is this a first year team, this year? Indy Vipers have two good pitchers and good hitters.

Told you I would forget teams so that is why I left the blanks for ya'll to fill in, but I will add the Wizards to the mix as well. Any topic of conversation besides high school ball is a good thing in my opinion so chime in if we have missed any others. So of those 12 to 15 teams that are mentioned how good of teams could be put together if you would take the best talent from them and make six teams from these 12 to 15?

Who are the Crusherz. Group of kids from the western part of the state (in and around Terre Haute) that finished very well in the ASA qualifiers last summer as a young 16u team.

Of all these teams mentioned how many of them have two quality pitchers? I am not thinking very many of them do. What happens in a 24 team qualifier if you slip up and lose one early and have to play 8 to 10 games to fight thru the loser's bracket.

The teams are still playing for runner-up which does not get the bid passed on.

Then what will happen as there are six bids to be passed out.

Will the points system be used for the other bids?

I am just glad DD is playing 18u so I can at least get some work done on most Friday's and not have to burn all my vacation time, but maybe I can catch a Friday 8am 16U game go to the office and still make DD's 6pm 18u game.

The points are just if there are open bids available, I thought. How many open spots do you suppose will be given outside of South Dakota?

Troy still has the most dominate pitcher(at 40ft) till someone knocks them off! Reese's Dreams and Haley Chambers are in the top five! He has a second decent arm in the "bull pin" and a third that can give him some innings! The Chix problem is pitching!! Still hit the ball as well as anybody, but will have to out score people! Leming's Dreams have 3 good pitcher's, not dominate, but as good as most! The Fire lost the work horse from last year to Troy, although she's #3 on his team! Don't know much about the Terror, other than very young! The Crusherz are very solid! Bucketboy, might be some big surprises at the end of the season with the merger of a couple "powerhouse's"! LOTS of rumor's about that already! Alot of good teams out there, but going 14U to 16U is as big of jump as any, alot of these younger teams will find that out in june! Not the Fall and Winter schedule! Most of it is mental, not physical!

You are right, if the top 5 or so teams combined to 3 teams, it would be beneficial for Indiana at Nationals. The Terror have one decent pitcher, but that is all. The Fire, have 2 good pitchers, but they did lose their #1 to Troy, and she is work in progess with them. She is not getting very many inninngs at this point. Akadema has 3 very good pitchers also, two lefties, both are first year 16u, with one that hoovers around 60-61mph all day long. I know the righty they have was all-conference as freshman for her high school, and throws about the same, maybe tick faster. The Chix really have to find some pitching, because every game against a good team will be 7-5.

Maybe someone could put together an all-star team, with an agreement with 5 or 6 of the top teams coaches, and take them to Nationals. I would love to see Indiana finish top 5 at ASA.

I.E. the "all star team"
Gators Catcher
Chambers from Reese
One pitcher from Troy
Harrison from Troy
SS from Troy
CF from Akadema
Lefty from Akadema
Catcher from the Fire
CF from Fire
SS from Chaos

Need 4 or 5 more...

Note: This was not meant to slight any player, because there are some very talented players that I have not seen. These are just teams that we are familiar with. Also, understand this could never happen due to the rules in place with ASA. But thought it would be cool. I know Leming, Wizards, and Chaos have some players also.

I'm with bucketboy, glad we are 18u, so maybe I won't have to take off a bunch of Fridays this summer. The other side of the coin is it is nice to see alot of 16u teams, but from the posts, the talent on the lower tier teams needs to improve. Does anyone know if the stronger 16u teams are thinking of moving up to 18u next year? Or if some of the better 16u players are going to be "recruited" to a top 18u team or have to move up? That would change the landscape of 16u next year.
