1981 Rolling Stones
1977 I think Framton and Foghat

I was at both of those.
1977 - 8th grade-1st concert--anaheim stadium - Frampton, Foghat, Rick Derringer, J Geils
couldnt figure out what the people in front of me were passing around...

1981 - LA Coliseum - the aformentioned Stones, J Geils, George Thoroughgood, and of course, Prince in his jock strap, lingerie, trench coat ensemble, with shoes being thrown at him (got there late, missed it)...

and I will add:
REO Speedwagon Long Beach Arena, 1981 or so. really really good. i think a band called Blue Steel opened and were pretty good too.U2 -1984-LA sports arena, 1985-Long Beach Arena, 1987-LA Coliseum-all awesome
Santana, 1981 anaheim convention ctr
Rush, 1981 Long Beach Arena
and Pat Benitar LA Forum early 80's, just remember they were much better than I thought they would be...

a couple great shows at small clubs
the old Golden Bear in Huntington Beach - David Lindley, Plimsouls

saw the Outlaws in 1990, Lake Tahoe on my honeymoon, they were pretty good.

bad show:
Judas Priest - Long Beach Arena, early 80's-came out on a motorcycle-blech..

I was at this concert.....the opening band was Blue Steel. Went out and bought their vinyl lp the next day. Remember the one song "Twist One Up" ? I became an instant REO fan that night too. They did the rockin'est version of "Like You Do"

ha, i tried googling blue steel, and "twist one up"...nothing there but some obscure references.....they were actually pretty good and REO was awesome...
the best part , if I remember right, we had a friend that worked at the long beach arena...he opened up a side door and let us in for free!!! i doubt that stuff could happen these days...
small world!
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.

The first was Blue Oyster Cult / opening act was Foghat
The Cure was probably my fav at Dodger stadium, but any Boingo concert was fun. In 1983 the B52's was a really a good time in Jersey.
Worst REM
The CULT at the Bachanall in San Diego in 86',
George Thorogood at Soboba are close for best bar concerts

I'm going to cheat and post another one ... not because it was the Best but because I didn't realize that a band could play so many songs so fast :...
The Ramones at the Convention Center in Asbury Park NJ ... guessing 1980 ?

Best Concert: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Frank Erwin Center, Austin, Tx. April 2000.

Best Live Bar Show: (1) Bono & Edge walked up on stage unannounced at Antone's in Austin, Tx. after a live concert at the Erwin Center, cir. 1985-86. Don't even remember who the actual band was. Out-of-body experience. . . . (2) Charlie Sexton at 15-year-olds on stage at Antone's, Austin, Tx. cir. 1983. The greatest guitarist you've never heard of.

Stealing the thread a little. Vegas shows are basically concerts, right? So...

Best Vegas Show(with actual musicians): Blue Man Group.

Worst Vegas Show: Celine Dion (Not even free tickets could get me to stay the entire time)
Honorable mention: Elton John (The Red Piano). The music was ok, but
now all the songs have a different meaning because of the visuals. Wish
I could go back in time and NOT see the show.

Would have to say AC/DC at Long Beach Arena circa 1990 and Garth Brooks at the Pond around 1995

How about best garage show? I saw the late Shannon Hoon peform with his local band at the time, Styff Kytten, in a garage. Of course he later went on to form Blind Melon.
