Teams not supporting Friendly Snack Bar

Said it before and I'll say it again: nobody is EVER obligated to give their money to anybody else. If you want people to spend money at your snack bar, it's on you to entice them into doing so. Or, if you believe that you are owed a certain level of profit for hosting a friendly, simply charge more for participation.

That said, having a team bbq at a friendly is way out of line. That is in effect no different than organizing a team boycott of the snack bar. Each family should make its own decision regarding whether to bring food, buy food, or both.

Exactly my point, of course there is no obligation - we bring snacks, sandwiches, fruit, etc for the kids. But we also buy something from the snack bar, as is our choice to or not to.. It was the team BBQ that prompted me to post on this, I thought it was rude and like you said, almost like a boycott -- not cool...

With this economy it will get worse before it gets better my friend. Look at other ways to raise funds....host friendlies with no snack bars and let the parents enjoy watching the kids play....

Got a new job...busy cleaning up everything before I left my previous job.....I now commute a little under 4 minutes each day.

Thinking about coaching again next year....14's or 16's...don't really want to deal with crap at Gold.

I guess that would be possible in Norco, but out here in civilization the umpires cost $35 a game the fields rent for around $20 an hour. The average cost per game is $40 or $50, any more and no one will come. You need the snack shack to make it worth while. I guess, if you have the connections for free fields and umpires you could get by without one. The snack shack makes it possible for friendlies to even happen. Unless you want to go to the same team's friendly week after week.

But if every family can afford to spend, say, $5 at a snack shack in addition to what they already spend on food that they bring, each team can theoretically afford another $60-$70 for the day.

But bottom line, if you have a good snack bar people will gladly part with their money.

In a classic example of supply and demand, I was determined to supports AA's snack bar at Alicia Park Sunday. I demanded the very last, lonely, hot dog remaining in the 'warm dish' at the end of the day, and they supplied it! And it was good!

What are you talking about the lunch truck or bank of america to buy food at the snack bar lol
