My $0.02.

The Panthers had the element of surprise on their side last weekend. They will be strong this season but by no means unbeatable. (Especially when the injuries/sicknesses heal).

The TPS 98 has all the talent you could ask for but they will need to lay off of the daddy ball to reach their full potential.

Texas Sting was not themselves last weekend. I think the injuries to two of their key players really affected their chemistry. The Panthers did not blow them away either time they played them. They should reach the top two in any local tournament they play.

Lady Stros 98 may have been a fluke a couple of weeks ago. (I hope not!!) They make alot of errors defensively, but have several big hitters.

Kaos 98 has the potential but we will see what they do with it.

Crush 98 will have a hard time keeping good players on board.

All in all-if these Texans could swallow their pride-there is enough talent in the Houston Metro area to blow away the competition at nationals. What a shame!!

my pick for 10 u

1. TPS Lots of tallent jade and payton are the best 1-2 pitcher combo in the division dont get caught up in the hype and believe in the panthers, sting, rage, lady stros, kaos to quick. do not get me wrong the other teams will probably play with the tps and beat them at times but they are DEEP. the sting and the panthers will challenge them more than the others. they have the most experienced team in the division when it comes to nationals. they have 4-5 players that were at nationals last year. tps is diciplined and will get the players to the highest leval they are capiable of achieving.
2. panthers/sting are my number two but the panters probably will not play many out of town tournaments or nationals and if they do i doubt they will have all there players with them. some of the panthers parents wont travel to the north side of houston, let alone the bomber, florida ASA state or nationals from what i am told and have seen. so in the national seen i have to go with the sting as my number two.
3.rage is my number three they have been a slow starter every year but i still would rather play the stros, crush, or koas if i had to win. they have a good local group of girls and will get rolling like a freight train i am affraid. they are inconsistant at times and that may be due to
basketball, soccer, volleyball etc. injuries and other stuff. i think they are sill in the small town mode of letting the players play multiple sports untill the season is underway. they have always found a way to get it done sometimes with less tallent than the others. don't get me wrong they are one of the three best hitting teams out there. pitchers one of them is in the top 5 when she is healthy. i am a little surprised they are not performing better. we will have to see if they can overcome the loss of a key player.
4. kaos they have a good athletic team and have the best athlete in the age group Makinzie. she can beat you by her self in a close game.heck she can probably play for some of the highschools auround here. HAHA.she is special. they may need more pitching to get deep in tournaments but the ace Tristan can play with any team out there. hitting they are sound through the fifth batter but can be handled from there with average pitching. they are sound on defense and do not give you unforced errors. some how they found a way to loose to the 99 tps they may need to be more consistant.
5. crush the only reason i have them at 5 is because of the pitcher one of the top 4 in the age group. she will keep them in most games but if you put pressure on the deefense you will probably have some success. they lost severall players and did not replace them with simialar tallent. but good pitching will beat good hitting.
6. stros, they can hitt with anyone, i am not sold on there pitching or defense but it is not bad, but it seems to be consistant. on defense they will make they plays they should and will be coached well and in great physical condition. ray vaughn instilled this in the coaches who took over the team from last year. do not count them out. they played all year in 08 behind the tps 97 but beat them in florida when it counted last year at the usfa nationals 6-5 in the lat inning to put the tps in the looser bracket. they will be there in the end.
7. who ever mentioned the impact must be a parrent, i have seen them many times and they are not in the same league as the others. get your glases on or pay attention. the sugarland smash is my number 7 team. i know they are youn but they are scrappy and well coached.

we all know about the top 7 who do you think will come up from the unlisted and compete???

That was impressive, but I think most of the hype has been about the TPS most of the time and I have yet to see what the hype is all about. I would agree about the "best 1-2 pitcher combo" but have yet to see them hit the ball consistent or play defense consistent against the better teams. If they cant over power there opponent with pitching it seems to turn into a long weekend for them. I think they have allot of talent on there team and will be tough to deal with every weekend they play, especially if they start hitting the softball & working on there defense and not relying so much on the pitchers to bail them out. There is no doubt that they want it as much as any team going and are trying to peek at the right time, if they don't burn out before they get there. Disciplined maybe but easy to rattle and get them out of there game.

In my opinion the talent is watered down in 10u this year at this point. I have seen great talent on all of the top teams and each team has different attributes. TPS is deep in pitching but lack defense against good hitting & lack hitting against good pitching. Panthers I have not seen much but seem to be solid, good pitching good defense good bats but fall of after # 4 hole in line up. Sting seems to be well rounded but injury riddled and need more production out of bottom of there line up as well. Kaos has some great talent but needs a dominate pitcher & work on there defense. Each team has things they need to work on and holes to fill, but it is early in the year & we will see who gets serious. It all comes down to who will COACH and build there talent & chemistry on there team. So coaches let's see what you are made of. Let's just see who will build on what they have and turn into the top team in Houston area. Right now I think any given weekend any of the top teams can win depending on the situation and none of the top teams has separated there self enough to be called THE DOMINATE TEAM IN HOUSTON AREA.

Daddyball??? What the hell are you talking about SOBMom98. Daddyball got TPS a 5th place finish in nationals last year. Sounds like he cut your kid!
