Where in the country are you ?... this was all good advice but if you are in the North East and she is not wearing batting gloves and it is 40 degrees out ... guess what ... stinging hands ...

I don't agree with that one G, we've been in cage at 100 degrees and get the stinging. I tell them to hit the ball harder than it hits the bat and it works unless they refuse and then we go round and round until they either leave the cage with sore hands or problem solved. My youngest dosen't like hitting off the machine much because it hurts her hands, (she knows this and won't swing hard which makes it worse) my oldest can blow throw them for an hour. When my little one is the right frame of mind, no problem. Now back to your original statement, yes cold temps can definately cause some sting.

As mentioned, hitting off the end of the bat or the taper rather than the sweet spot causes the excess vibration that stings the hands. Video her for several minutes. If a swing stings, have her say so. Then review the video in slow mo and see what the stingers have in common. My guess is that she may be setting up too far from the plate and hitting off the end of the bat a lot, but why guess when you could put it to rest with video.

Then yes SinCity ... you do agree ... I was NOT saying that cold temps were the ONLY reason ... just one of them and was asking the OP if they were in the cold as a possible cause ... but as you and others pointed out there are other reasons ... Also , in re-reading the OP it stated she was also stinging her hands hitting softies which I thought was odd ...
