www.icgsa.org and click on softball and scroll to the bottom of the page and click on polls.

I just checked it and there is no poll up yet for 2009. The Star usually publishes it as well, but I am sure basketball is the big story of the week and we may not see a softball poll for a week or two.

Looks like FC will fall quickly after their 10-2 loss to Roncalli and I am sure Roncalli will move up.

As always the first poll is based on what happened last year and then the pollsters will make adjustments after a few weeks of play.

Good luck to everyone and I am counting the days till June.

From what i've heard, Mel is not playing this year at all!! That is what A&M told her to do!?! These ranking are crazy!! Look where they have Carmel and HSE! Mccutcheon won't repeat, they won last year on pitching and Collins is gone. In class "A" Riverton Parke has one of the best pitchers in the state at any level and they are not even ranked! What happened to FC?? Is Roncalli that good or did FC fall off that far? Avon should be at the top of 4A when it is all said and done. Along with CG and Noblesville! Who ever survives that regional!

I agree on accounts. The big ommission that stuck out for me was Noblesville. They didnt lose anyone off of their Regional team last year and Flak is now a junior so she has to be better and stronger. HSE should be good, but are already missing Williams as the backstop. They look good in all other positions and their pitching is above average. Carmel also lost their catcher, so not sure. I know they should be in most games with Osborne and Petruzzi on the mound.

I think Center Grove is in a class of their own. They have a solid team, with great pitching for a high school team.

Who is the pitcher at Riverton Park? Showing my ignorance, but I have never heard of that high school.

The rankings will certainly see some movement in the next few weeks. In speaking with a parent of a pretty good Ben Davis player, Flak was spot on in mowing the Giants hitters down. He commented on her great control. The Roncalli/Franklin Central score suprised me to. I know Roncalli can score some runs, but thought FC could keep up. Center Grove beat what I think is a pretty good Whiteland team. I might just agree with Looking in about Avon being number 1, but it is early. Some of those 4A sectionals and regionals will be wars. I am off to Ft. Myers Beach in a couple hours. Should anyone else be vactioning there, most evenings I can be found at the Oyster Bar near the pier, consuming a few on the half shell with a cold coors light.
