Uh Lefty's...

Wouldn't you be more comfortable in SoCal - you sound just like them. If you want some real competition get out of that big city - these country girls will be glad to take your money and then kick your butt. :o

Been there, done that...For every solid team of "country girls" there are 5-6 in the "big city". It's just simple math, more girls means a bigger talent pool. I never said you can't find a good team away from the city because I have seen some. My comment was to an out of stater coming in and playing in Texas. If you want a bigger tournament with more than a few good teams to play, they need to head to the areas where there are more teams.
Certainley no need to say "Wouldn't you be more comfortable in SoCal - you sound just like them" Now THAT'S an insult! :lol:

I think our Mississippi friends will find plenty of competition at this tournament. And the ribs beat anything you can find in the city. Maybe they will report how things went next week. I've been to a few city tournaments that weren't worth the gate fee much less the entry fee. :D

I too am from East TX. We play outa Tomball for that reason. There are talented players this way, however it can be very difficult to put togather enough talented /dedicated players (parents) and challenge them to continually to get better. Don't know any of the teams attending, other than the 97 Humble Cobras, I'll take them to compete just from the avg competition they see in Houston area.

In the past 4 years DD has played at pretty much every ballpark in the Houston area, only one park has had a gate fee of $5 per weekend (that I can remember). I know the parks in Plano have a gate fee, or at least one does, not sure about the rest and I only have a one weekend of experience with the DFW teams (rarely do they make the trip south and rarely do we make the trip north) and they looked pretty stout for the most part. I am sure the MS team will find some good comp. somewhere in that field of teams and I wish them all the luck. It would be nice to have more out of state teams come play in TX other than the few La and OK teams that make the trip. I won't argue about the ribs, I have yet to find a good place for ribs in H-town.

I know this seems to be talking about the 12u in Kilgore.
The 14u in this tournament were moved to Shreveport.
Order of finish:
1st = 94 Bad Attitude
2nd = Team Arkansas 95
3rd = Sneaky Cleats

Don't know much about the places to eat in ol' Kilgore, but don't leave that place without takin' the kids to the Oil Museum. I know...sounds boring...but you'll be surprised. I usually don't care for stuff like that, but that place is fun...even for an old guy. :)
