I know Jody he wont leave this field to go chase points, he is a gamer ! Points wont mean much when it is all said and done. How prepared your team is when you get to the big tournaments is what's going to matter. He will stay were the heat is.... heck they are the heat !

They may be in a bind; play the stros and leave a fellow TPS team hanging or play in the TPS tourney and miss out. I think it has more to do with helping the TPS 99 tourney make then it does points.

A Europe tournament sounds fun, I prefer Italy. :) TPS will be in at the Stros tournament this weekend, I hope it doesn’t rain out like the last two tries.

WHAT! R my eyes playing tricks on me? Why would tps do that. All they r goin 2 do i s scare all the other teams to drop out and goto an allstar tournament. They r not helping tps 99. They will lose money. Might as well play where d big dogs r. Just my opinion.

Who is playing Houston ASA?
Or better yet who can play?
I know some teams for the south are in another region, just not sure who they are.

Some folks don't realize this but you have the option to play state or metro as long as you live in a county that is ajoining to the metro County. So Harris is the metro any team in a county bordering that county can "choose" to play metro rather then state.

"A" so far:

1 Spring Klein Impact 98 04/22/2009 21:32
2 Texas Peppers 10U 05/04/2009 15:44
3 TPS-98 05/12/2009 11:02
4 Texas Peppers 98 05/14/2009 10:38
5 Cy Fair Frenzy 05/26/2009 12:32

What is up with TPS this weekend? Are they playing the Stros or are they going point seeking in the USFA tournament they are signed up for in Deer Park?

I just saw this on the USFA website. There was a tournament in Louisiana this past weekend 05/22/2009-05/24/2009. Ark-La-Tex Challenge (Tournament of Champions). There were teams from TX, LA, AR and MS.

Texas Glory 98 - 1st
STEALTH 98 - 2nd
Team Worth '98 - 3rd
ANDERSON EXPRESS-98 - 4th
MS Blast 98 - 5th
MS CRUSH - 5th
Louisiana Hot Shots - 6th
Louisiana Hurricanes - 6th
And several others that DNP.

Texas Sting is a good sound team, especially defensively. Pitching is okay but not great. And hitting is just okay too.

Peppers 98 are a good team. Has good pitching. Will be interesting to see what happens with them in the spring and who shows up there. On eteamz they are looking for players and coaches it looks like.

Lady Stros 98 has good hitters, pitching is bellow average.

I would watch out for Kaos 98, Bert always finds athletes for his teams.

AS far as 99 teams
The Sugarland Smash had a solid little team they are very small and fast. But rumor is they lost their #1 pitcher

Cobras need some pitching but could come around late in the summer

Woodlands Thunder 99 have placed in several tournaments in the fall according to their website. And probably have the best 99 pitcher around.

Should be interesting Spring/Summer. LOTs of teams though

Mid season recap

I took this post because it hit on both ages and has a few of the top teams listed

TPS 98 seems to have found their stride and are holding it together well looking for big things from them at Nationals

TX sting pitching and hitting has improved and they are definitely a contender to bad they are deciding to skip ASA nationals

Peppers 98 are a shell of last fall and nowhere even in the conversation. They seek out weak tournaments and definitley peaked in the fall.

Lady Stros have been dorment for the past few weeks it will be nice to see them this weekend.

Kaos impoded as expected. lost key players and will struggle through the remainder of the year.

Panthers, Rage etc... are all in the mix and should do well trading 2nd-5th place through the fall when TPS 98 and Tx Sting are playing

Smash is a good little team but nothing to write home about they can play small ball with the best of them and occasionally pick up a player or two that can hit well but they are a young team with a 98 pitcher hopefully they will keep it together through the fall and come out swinging in the spring.

Cobras 99 could be the real deal next year if they can hold it together (I don't see it happening) they'll be around but on a divided front by August. Tension between the coaches is obvious and they wil struggle with egos through the year.

Woodlands Thunder 99 seeing them in the fall I thought they where a 98 team Seeing them in the spring they are definitely a 99 team and a marginal one at that.

Really seems to have the pulse of the 10u in the Houston area. I would agree with most of his analogy. I would have to say that TPS and Texas Sting have separated there self from the pack by a good margin. I think right now it is a toss up on each meeting who will win between these two. This weekend will be a good look at the field, but it still should be out of the two heavy weights. 8-)
