And they are letting people like this have kids.

Pronounce this child's name

How would you pronounce this child's name:

"Le-a"

Leah?? NO

Lee - A?? NOPE

Lay - a?? NO

Lei?? Guess Again.

This child attends a school in Detroit, MI. Her mother is irate because
everyone is getting her name wrong. It's pronounced "Ledasha." When the
Mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she said, "the
dash don't be silent."

So, if you see something come across your desk like this please remember
to pronounce the dash. If they ask you why, tell them the dash don't be
silent.

My mates sister swears this to be true ... she taught school for many years in Richmond VA. ... there was a girl student whose name was pronounced Fa-Molly ( the dash be silent in this case ) but spelled Female ... The story went that when Female was born they asked the mother what her name was and she said she didn't know ... so in the hospital nursery on the crib, the identification card said "Female Jones" ... the Mother seeing this figured that they named her baby for her .... Fa-Molly

Didn't have the courage but I wanted to give one of my kids a name with all silent letters.
10 years from now I'll wish I felt like I do these days.

Had a girl from the old neighboorhood, you know, a paisana....well she let her halfwit brother name her baby. Out comes a girl and he is ready with the name...Denise, he says. To everyone's surprise, she starts pushing again and out pops a boy. More than a little surprised, they find the brother waiting patiently for news and tell him the surprise. The nurse inquires as to what the new baby's name will be and after thinking for just a moment he proudly announces...."Da Nephew"

Played ball a few years back with a VERY country team here in VA. ... a set of twins on the team ... their names were Josh and Otha ... Josh was born first and then came the otha one ... And no Joe ... not racist ... In some country areas of the south east, many ethinic groups speak in the garbled English that we are poking fun at ... last night while Umping at a spread out complex ... we use walkie talkies to communicate ... and I had to guess at what the guy in charge was trying to say ... the bolts of lightning were a good clue ...

A friend of my sister-in-law was a HS teacher. A few days before the school year started he would look through the names of his students. Panic set in when he saw the following name.... S**H**I**T**H**E**A**D.... He had no idea how what he was going to do on the first day when he called roll. So he decided to call it last name first. On that first day, he gets to her last name, and says, "Davidson? , and pauses, and she says........"Shathayed".
