It happened too fast ... when she stepped in the office she was literally face to face with the guy and he already had the cash ... her first instinct was to grab him ... seeing as our business does very little 'cash' we would not be what you think of as a target for something like this ... hence, the weaponry, although available is not kept in the office ... had it been, in this case, it may have just ended in a struggle over it further compounding the situation ... once he was out of the door it's too late to shoot him ... she is VERY mad at herself feeling that she didn't act in the way that she would have wanted too ... meaning she thinks she should have gone straight for the cojones with a knee and then put him on the ground and grabbed a bat ... its easy to second guess yourself over things like this ...

My personal opinion?

I think today is your luckiest day, not your worst. Count your blessings that your mate's still with you. Like we train and train our DDs about a game, I recommend the same when defending yourself. I also own a small business, and ALL know exactly where I keep the tools that might be needed in an emergency...and ALL are trained on how to use the tools properly. The same goes for family at home.

Your mate survived so I wouldn't pretend to second guess her actions, but I would use the opportunity to better prepare for the next time. There will probably be a next time.

Give her about 50+ hugs and kisses today... thank God, and break out the credit card for a nice dinner tonight.

Who knows...you might get real lucky ;)

They had a Klan meeting last night in Tyler. He's probably sleeping it off.

I am sorry to hear this. Yes, I think that the lady involved was lucky, too.

People are getting so desperate that they will rob anyone. I bet he had cased the business, the day before.

My parents ran a nursery when I was growing up, but both were also law enforcement. My dad taught me that the best defense is to run.

That would have been against my nature though, when I saw some 5'8" punk with my cash register.

A fine, upstanding looking young man. I'm sure this was out of character for him...
