Base runner removing helmet

NSA speaking, but I know ASA & NFHS are the same ... first time that I have ever seen a BR remove her helmet ... we had her in a run down and she removed her helmet ... this was 23U and all the girls on this team were college players ... my question is whether this is permisable in NCAA ? I've just never seen it before at any level and she was rather smooth at doing it ... the Blues talked briefly and called her out ...

Got this from the ASA PDF file with 2009 rule differences between ASA, NCAA, and NFHS rules:

"Intentionally removing helmet while ball is live, player is out. NCAA Rule 3-8-a"

NSA, ASA and NCAA are the same. You immediately have an out.
NFHS is...first offense, play continues, live ball. After all plays are concluded a warning is issued. Second offense, play continues, live ball. After all plays are concluded offender and head coach are restricted to the dugout.

My brother hit a home run and as he was going around the bases he lifted the helmet off of his head to get rid of a small rock was bouncing around. He no longer had a home run.

In ASA and NFHS the ball must be live for them to be out..

So they would not be out for removing their helmet during a home run...because the ball is dead.
